When its all said and done, LeBron is going to run to LA for one reason and one reason only. He knows the Hornets are about to sting his ass if he stays in the same division.

The money aspect I can understand. But from a title winning perspective he'd have to get past the Spurs and Thunder, and that's without consisting the rising teams and borderline contenders like the Trail Blazers, Clippers, Warriors and Rockets. He'd be best off staying in the 'weaker' east if he wants regular trips to the finals.

That said, it would be interesting to see if Kobe and LeBron could coexist.

I think lebron leaves and wade stays. Wade sucked in the finals. Lebron can get $ and a title somewhere else. Wade can't. No idea about Bosh.

Yeah. If Lebron came here, any championship he wins here would just be a part of his overall legacy, and not so much a Charlotte legacy. What the Spurs did last night and over the years is all Spurs oriented. That's the kind of thing I want for us.

Umm... No. If he did come to Charlotte I would run through the streets fapping. However, 0.000000000% chance that happens. So you're in luck.

It may sound a little strange, but I don't this place to be Lebron's next stop. By the way, didn't we get on Heat fans for bringing in all that star power and buying a championship? So what would that say about us if we followed their example, although it would only be Lebron coming to Charlotte. With all that said, I would rather see us win with team work and not be known as a great team because of one player.

What I really want is to bring in Kevin Love. Now he's a star in his own right, but he's not carrying the baggage of "best player in the world". I see him and Big Al as equals, and I see MKG and Kemba as emerging stars. With that group of guys leading the team, we can definitely win a few championships.

I don't want to sound rude, but I fail to see your reasoning. So you're cool with bringing in top tier FA's as long as their not the best? I don't think anyone thinks Miami's two titles are "cheap." They're titles. Even with the original Hornets, we have none. I just think it's funny as poo that Miami tried to "buy" the greatest team ever and failed.

What makes a title cheap? Were the Bulls cheap when they had MJ, Pippen, and Rodman? Are those 6 more MJ's legacy than the Bulls? No. They become that because we compare players of the past to players in the present. Even with the way the Spurs play, ultimately the Spurs 5 titles are Duncan's legacy when he's compared to other greats.

So what is an acceptable way to build a championship team? Do you have to draft your best player? Can you only sign players not expected to immediately hand you a title? Is it the players' motivation? I think FA's are going to want to be here more now because the future looks bright and MJ is taking on a bigger role. So if a player signs here just because of MJ, does that make it cheap?

Just curious.

If quality players signed here because of MJ, I would say that would be credited as a Hornets' legacy because this is Jordan's town.  Well, he grew up in North Carolina so it's his home state.  If Lebron did sign here, it would probably go down in history as the ultimate partnership between him and MJ.  However in the end, people would remember Charlotte simply as Lebron's next stop and any championships that are won, would be more Lebron's championships than the Hornet's.  Of course this is just how I feel about it.

 

 

With all that said, I rather have Lebron as a rival.  I want to say my team beat Lebron's team, or better yet dominated Lebron's team.  I also don't want Clifford to get lazy with coaching, and force the ball to Lebron like the Heat did.  I've been laughing at the Heat this past season (even though they swept the floor with us), I don't want to eventually become the Heat.

      Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.

      Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.

      Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
