Question about Experience stats on the Roster list

Was browsing the current team roster today to review Panthers' depth at various positions, and I was surprised by the "experience" column.

 

I would have expected last year's rookies - Kelvin, Bene, Tre, etc. to be showing 1 year of experience.  Instead they all are listed at 2 years, while several other players who also played a bit last year, e.g. Carrington Byndom  and DeAndre Presley are listed at 1 year.  Presley was actually signed as a UDFA by San Diego in 2012...

 

Is there some kind of number of games played or weeks on the 53 man roster that distinguishes those with 1 year of experience vs. 2 years or is it something to do with the kind of contract?
