As far as I know, the NBA doesn't have this thing the NFL has called the "franchise tag".

The franchise tag means that the Panthers get to keep Cam Newton as long as they want... unless he retires.

So, like Mr. Scot said... the Panthers aren't letting Cam Newton go.  Ever.
