Ok I knew Funch was smoking today in camp

I'm ecstatically surprised he has progressed like this.  I was very vocal about not wanting him in the draft last year, and I admit, I'm an idiot asshole sometimes (don't pile on lol)...  As I've always said, what works out best for our team is what I want, so if I'm wrong, I'll happily be wrong.  This is awesome!!!

But, it has brought up a question for me...  From anyone who has been to camp this year, does it seem like KB is back to 100% physically, like his camp form from last year, pre-injury?  I'm just wondering because it was clear from the jump last year that he was tons better than his rookie season and was dominating.  This camp, most of the stories have just been about his comeback, but I don't see nearly the same amount of reports and glowing reviews he had before the injury last season.  Does he look the same as before?

My other theory is that because the overall talent level has increased, the gap between KB and everyone else is less noticeable.  At least, that's what I'm hoping.

You aren't reading enough. There's been tons of glowing articles about how good he's looked. Tons of amazing catches. I saw three practices and he looked good to me. I think the only thing he needs is more conditioning. There was an article from RR about it, but I don't think it's an effort thing, I think it's part of the coming back from a bad injury where he couldn't really do everything in the off season. I think that'll continue to get better.

Thanks man!  That's entirely possible on my end!  For the most part, I've kept up with everything through the practice tweets, so it's possible I missed the articles on him.  Happy to hear it!  And I expect the conditioning issue as well, he'll get that back in no time...  Him and Funch on the outsides are scary exciting, lol.

This is what I've been seeing/hearing as well.  RR said in an interview that they're trying to increase his reps by about 5 per day.  The hope is to have him up near 35ish by the time the season starts.  Outside of that, he's still dominating a majority of his routes, but you can tell the conditioning isn't there yet.

TLDR:  He tired, but he good.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
