USA Today's Matthew Stevens on fixing the WR corps.

Honestly, I'm surprised that so many Panther fans think WR needs to be overhauled.  Kelvin was playing a shoulder injury and coming off of an ACL, and looked very good over the final two games when he finally got healthy.  Him and Ginn are actually adequate for those two positions/roles.  I think what we really need is someone besides Olsen who can reliably catch passes on 3rd down.  A better version of Cotchery, if you will.

It can be a wide receiver or a tight end.  I've been saying for a while that I'd like to get back to what we had with Olsen and Shockey.

Are there stats out there that indicate what routes we used most often and how many completions occured on which route and by which receiver.

That still wouldn't help if Newton ignores a wide open short route and holds the ball trying to get more, but it would give context to this whole discussion and help determine who needs an upgrade and what plays we should or shouldn't be running.

Does Reception Perception have those stats?  I know they have this kind of stuff for the draft, but not sure about the NFL WRs.

Also, I know each week in my twitter feed I often see next gen stat tweeted out with some WRs routes for a given game.  Don't remember who puts those out.  Let me do a bit of digging.

Looks like most of what I'm thinking about is usually tweeted or retweeted by Matt Harmon.

Maybe give him a shout, and if you find good info, can you DM me?:
