I get the idea behind the Dave firing but...

JR saw DG as a problem because his style didn't mesh with how the Panthers operate. JR has always made carolina a second home to players and developed a culture that inspired players to stay. The down side to that was giving out poor contracts to keep aging icons. Dave was the boogie man so to speak. He made the hard decision and allowed Rivera and JR to coddle players. When Dave went for his next hard decision it would not stand with JR. This was so anti JR that he had to make a move. The down side to this is that we now have no one to be the bad guy and players will have no fear. With JR firing Dave he came out and said do what you want. If the staff crosses you I will fire them. Get use to the fact in the near future we will once again see players on the side line smiling while we go 6-10. This is the culture that has risen once again.

    • wut? Riding Rico is literally the only way we can win football games.  And you want to not do that in a winnable game?  we have seen w/ Hubbard that it takes more than our gameplan to win a game.....we need the opponent to have painfully horrific offense in addition to that.    You play to win the game.  You ride Rico until he can't ride.
    • There's no way he's sold. I see a combination of coach speak and coddling when it comes to Bryce. Which is what Canales needs to do in order for Bryce to be successful enough for Canales to keep his job. But Canales has to be pining for a QB who doesn't need a perfect situation in order to overcome his limitations.
    • Howell really doesn't have a chance of seeing the field in Philadelphia outside of injury or mop-up duty. If Howell isn't under contract, you don't think the Eagles would be willing to let him go for 4th or 5th? If they did that's a trade you almost have to make. Even if never became starter that wouldn't be a bad price to acquire a backup QB. Howell would be an immediate upgrade from Dalton.
