Davis hints at playing elsewhere

No one wants to keep him for sentimental reasons. We just don't believe that Mayo or Shaq are good enough.

Mayo is a backup. Shaq? Maybe.

But these aren't the only options. There's the draft, free agency, seeing what we have in a younger player, any number of things.

Unfortunately, just like it is with Rivera, a lot of fans are willing to stick with the familiar over trying something new, even if the familiar isn't that great anymore.

So you'd rather give a mediocre Shaq 9 million and depend on a possible 3rd round rookie to fill Davis' shoes? Glad you aren't a GM.

Which free agent LB is worth signing?

They so this thing called renegotiating. Perhaps you've heard of it.

Beyond that, if you check the list of available free agents there are some good names on it (somewhat dependent on how much you're willing to pay) but we won't know who actually hits free agency until much later.

But again here, you're suggesting we hang on to a guy who's older and has already lost a step and just hope that by Week 12 of next season he's somehow still performing.

Solid idea :poison:

Lost a step but is ranked as the 11th best linebacker.

Ah yes, rankings. Those matter :eyeroll:

It's not hard to see Davis isn't what he used to be, especially when it comes to coverage. And if you think opponents don't already know this, you're dreaming.

An NFL season isn't one or two games, it's sixteen of them, followed by playoffs if you're lucky.

I seriously doubt Thomas Davis has another good full NFL season in him. Maybe a few games, but I don't see him playing meaningful football for an entire year.

He'll probably get a chance to prove me wrong on that, but I don't think it'll be with us.
