Thoughts and Musings last preseason wrap up game

I watched it live but have game pass to rewatch it this morning to get a better look at things

- This defense is going to be good, real good.

- Horn looks like a guy who has been in this league and also a genetic freak.  Massive CB and moves like a small speedster.

- Donte has Really impressed me.  Which in a contract year, he should.  The  guy has always been allergic to contact but has really taken that to heart and become a real solid tackler.

- Darnold didn’t look bad.  He did appear to have jitters (mainly due to pressure) And missed a few open guys because of this.  When he had his feet set, he looked good.  Really good.  Makes you see what scouts liked of him coming out.    The problem is, will the OL allow him to make those passes.

- Erving didn’t look bad at all.  Actually reminded me of Oher in 2015.  Didn’t stick out but was solid and held his own.  Actually Erving was far from the problem of this OL

- the Interior OL is either going to have us drafting top 5 or playoff hunt.  They constantly kept getting pushed back.  Most of the nice runs were on the RBs as the OL was almost in their lap when he took the handoff.  Paradis looked more like 2019 Paradis and not 2020.  He got knocked back every single time.

- Elfien looked completely lost at times (he got pushed around vs Baltimore).  You could see why the Jets, who had one of the leagues worst OL, were so easily ready to move on from him.

- John Miller pulled his best Matt Kalil impression prior to being pulled out.  When Brown has come in,  he has looked like our best OG since prime Trai Turner, and needs to be starting.  If he is not on the field week 1, I am seriously question Rhule’s comment of getting the best 5 on the field.  It will feel like Rivera 2.0 catering to vets.

- A few time Ian Thomas lined up outside of Moton to help block and got beat badly.  Turned like a turnstile on a blocks with his guy getting a big TFL OR a Pressure  in Sam’s face.  I would think he would be trade bait.  He is clearly the 3rd best TE on the team at best,  and not sure if we need to keep 4.

- Shi Smith, really really hope this kid can recover back to 100%.  He has been a Stud this preseason, and felt he could see some field time on certain packages this year.

- TMJ is going to a Star.  And will lead our Receiver room in TDs.

    • I know it a real homer take but Im not sure Id slam dunk take that list over Smitty.  Smith just played a different way, he had an ability to just take over a game as a matter of will.  The catch against the giants where he caught it and took a helmet that broke his arm mid air, the games against DeAngelo Hall, 05 Bears playoffs, Ice Up Son, the revenge game against us. Those other WRs may have better stat books but love him or hate him, good guy or bad, Smith just played a different game and when he did look out.
    • Absolutely would have to be anther young scorer with either ELC time or a long term contract...    Could see maybe Kyrou or Robertson.... But I really just dont see him being traded you dont trade your leading post season scorer on a long term deal when he isn't even in his prime yet..   not to mention unless you get more than one of those guys at best it would be lateral with unknown team chemistry.
    • was driving down a two lane rural highway this morning as was reminded of this thread.   Minding my own going 60 in the 55. This massive Chevy rolls up behind me so close all I see is grill. Along comes a passing zone and M firm in the right lane.  Does doofus drop over and pass me? Nope he backs off to a solid 2 second separation.   500 feet after the passing zone you can imagine where he was. Back up my ass.
