Whats Makes You People Think Matt Moore Will Turn Us Around?

Uuuhhh, I HAVE noticed. I've been calling for Moore to get a shot since the preseason on these boards. I am encouraged by what is going on, but the true test will be how he, and the team, get thru a season where the team hasn't been eliminated from playoff contention. If you're going to make statements that a short turnaround is still a turnaround, then you must be enamored with the 2 game winning streak that occurred on Jake's watch in weeks 5 and 6. Right? A short turnaround is STILL a turnaround, that's what you said, is it not? (head spinning completely around and around...)..

ok so i'm not sure how its relevent if moore is playing while the team is/is not playoff bound. sounds like some kinda glass half empty comment to me. somehow, youre doing amazingly well in overlooking a few circumstances, i.e. handing it to 2 highly favored, playoff-bound teams, who had everything to play for. we were able to dominate in both games, with many starters out with injuries.

moore has everything to play for as well, so suggesting otherwise is a little ridiculous. he wants nothing more than to be starting at qb, so naturally, given this once in a lifetime opportunity, he's going to make sure he makes the best impression possible...which, without a doubt, he has been able to do. he is capable of much more than jake ever had to offer this offense.

i think the players are ecstatic to see moore out there. it seems as though he has given them new life, new energy...maybe because now they can actually win, and win BIG. moore's been in the system for 3 years now, he's gained the confidence of the players, the coaching staff, and the fans. his statistics are superb. to throw all of that away would not be smart.

im interested to see what jake's most impressive back to back performances are, statistically.

i do think that we need to bring in someone to compete with moore for the #1 spot next year; but under no circumstances, should jake ever be allowed to start for the panthers again. you'd expect him to just retire at this point. i would think he's been embarassed enough to know not to go out on that field again. besides, he's gotta want the team to do well, right?

    • Really? You don't see why a team can't draft a QB in the 1st round while then starting their former #1 overall pick over them while on the last year of their deal? It puts the team in a TERRIBLE place no matter how the season goes.  If Bryce sucks, you have to answer questions as to why he was still on the team to begin with, let alone starting over the rookie.  If he's good, then you run into the situation the Vikings were in last offseason with sticking with the rookie contract or the the guy who just performed instead of said young QB. It's one thing when teams keep a vet around as a bridge QB, it's something entirely different when that QB is still only in their mid 20's and was taken #1 overall by that team.   That just doesn't happen and not sure it ever has in NFL history before.
    • What is the alternative? - BY, will not play for less then his perceived contract (just like Cam Newton did). So you pay him top of market as befitting a 1st round, Heisman winning, playing birthing QB would get. Or you cut him. - Then we are forced to either sign a stop gap QB / previously failed QB and try to fix him or you spend a 1st round pick and draft a guy, basically resetting the team.  The reality is that we all want a top 5 QB. The problem is there are only 5 of those guys in the world and drafting, even #1 overall doesn't guarantee that.  The other problem is the NFL market. Young QB get paid. Even an average, young QB gets top of market deals. I know a lot of people here think we could sign him to an 'average QB contract' but thats not reality. Didnt happen with Cam wont happen with BY.  So we could let this season flush out and he is again a middling QB. But then we cut and restart or accept it is what it is (including compensation) and build a team around what we have.  My money is on the latter.
