Jake Locker staying in School

I say we:

1) Shop our 2nd round pick around draft day, see if we can get a 2011 first round pick(just like 49'ers did with us, and Seattle did to Denver) for this years second since it will likely be pretty high in the 2nd round, so it's still very valuable.

2) Sign a free agent such as Jason Campbel, Chad Pennington(if he doesn't retire)

3) Enter 2011 off-season with 2 first round picks, and a legitimate chance at trading up for Jake Locker.

I'm sorry, it might sound dumb but I just don't like the idea of picking up a second round QB to build our franchise around.. and I certainly don't like the idea of trading our current stars(Stewart is a name I hear thrown around all too often for trade) for a 1st round pick.

The team RIGHT NOW as is can compete and make the playoffs, it's just horrid play calling. Of course we need a quarterback, but I'd rather take quality in time than rush to pick up an average, high bust potential second rounder(lets face it, Tom Brady/Brees was a fluke, it's extremely rare you find talent like that beyond first round.) when we could potentially get an NFL ready QB such as Locker.

Just my two cents, take it with a grain of salt..

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
