Homework assignment dochebag you tell me what you can get in this year draft too replace Pep, get a 2nd wr and tweek any other probelms we have. Like getting a player that can take the Weakside Lb job from Nail Diggs.

Try doing this without a 1st round pick and not spending some of the Pep money on FA.

Sorry if you don't agree but some of the Holes we have need a vets touch not a rookie.

History has proven it usely takes 3 years before a wr can be a factor on your team. This position needs a vet and a rookie too be safe. Not too mention a kick returner.

We have young DE getting another one in the draft won't help us for this year. We need atleast 1 vet too help the transition.

This is all I'm saying this FO can't afford too stand pat they have too have a good year too get a new contract. Fox and Hurney can't afford too put their future in 2nd round rookies and 2nd year player.

Do I know exactly what our FO will do to replace our holes?? NO! Nor did I ever claim to know....Addressing your post

I do not expect our team to enter the season with studs and no question marks at any position... In the competitive league known as the NFL you will not find any teams with no unit that is questionable entering the season... therefore you all ready have an unrealistic opinion of what should happen

I never said we won't spend ANY of the money... what I did say was that I don't expect any major headline signings... Ex: WR with Brandon Marshall talent...

1) I believe the LB core is fine... the may draft depth, or pick up a blue collar to LB...

2) I believe we have young DE's that we have drafted and groomed and now it will be time to let them prove themselves. We did not trade away our 1st for what they would believe to be a situational only player

3) Wr- I do not know what their plan is as this has always been a weakness of our front office thus far. They have not been able to draft/find a young WR to compliment Smith... There FA signings for WR hasn't worked out perfectly either. I can't tell you what to expect at that position next year, or if we will finally have an answer.

We have a good Core of young players and playmakers.... with better QB play next season I see us being contenders again

you missed the part where he said we drafted everette brown in the first. :D

i think what most people are missing is that people are not mad that pep is gone. so much as we really didnt have a exit strategy for him. when you have a multiple probowl player in a situation where he can leave, you either prepare to keep him or set up his replacement. no matter how people scorn pep for hurting their vaginas, e. brown is not a replacement for pep. this is not to say he wont be any good, but he probably wont be pep good.

there is more to being a de than just sacks also. this is what i worry about with our young de's. flowing to the ball, run support, sniffing out screens and reading protections.

Exactly somtimes you just can't draft a young guy and throw them to the lions and expect a good year. You might have too spend a little bit of money and get a vet who knows the small things you have too do too have success. Atleast sombody who can help with the transition too the younger guys.

1.nail diggs missed 6 games last year due too injuries and not getting younger and T davis is coming off a Knee injury. One way too help losing Pep is too improve other area like LB core.

2. Neither one showed they are ready too step up. I my opinoin CJ took a step back. He didn't come too near the impact i thought he would and couldn't beat out Brayton for the JOB. Brown still needs another year of grooming and bulking up.

3. FA worked one year even thought people don't want too admit it. Keyshawn did a great Job for us that one year and it was a misstake when we let him go. For us too really take that next step. We need too get a WR in FA and the Draft and stop bull craping. This has become a passing league and if we want Matt or any other QB (other then Jake) too have success we have too give them Multiple weapons in the passing game. Also a way too lessen the blow of losing Pep. Score more points.

Do this... Do that... Improve this position... improve that position... keep your young studs... Yes it's all so easy.... You'll have us in the superbowl tomorrow right. You'll have a solid short term and long term plan....

You people love to talk like everything is so damn easy in the NFL front office. I'm done with you. I've realized your mind is too young or slow to comprehend and be a realist.

Yes suggestions... that’s fine... but people expect our FO to perform the unreasonable. What's not realistic.... then they get upset when they don't or say "I told them we needed XYZ"

The board should also be a place with fans discussing and debating matters while being realistic at the same time... 90% of this person post has been completely elementary and unrealistic.

Nobody say it's easy but if you don't try too make plays for some FA's and think that you can just sign your young talent and things will be alright you will lose. Now we are getting back into that 21-of 22 starter thing which always seem too bite us in the ass. Good teams draft well and make some FA moves when needed.

I'm not being unrealistic you have 21 million dollars too play with. How much do you think it cost too get a Miles Austine or a Steve Breston. I'm not saying go for Brandon Marshall but you can get a soild FA and Draft one. Then you have option at WR instead of trying too go thru the season with just 4 wr.

It's unrealstic too think we can replace Pep but it also Unrealstic too think that the DE on this roster without FA's help can be successful. With 21 million too play with you should be able too get a few players that can give you some of Pep production. Instead of putting all the weight on a 2nd year player and a 3rd year player who have never started and still raw and expect success.

Lets be real we don't just have 21 million dollars other player might not be on this team which will give us more money. Lets also understand that out of all owners Jerry Richardson because of PSL is not losing much if any money. If the stadium not pact he still gets money so their is no reason for him not too use money too improve the team.

And what I am saying is that you have to understand the mindset of our FO.

For the most part they are conservative when it comes to the FA market... they sign more middle tier players, or vets who can come in and be serviceable...

Also with no salary cap and LESS UFA's because of the uncapped season supply for higher tier FA will be lower while demand is still high.... What this means is that the cost for these players will be greatly inflated!!

The Big cat is all ready preaching fiscal responsibility to other owners. So don't expect them to get in these bidding wars an over pay for a top FA on the market.

We don't just have 21 mil to play with in the market.... I don't know where you get that from. I believe Hurney reaffirmed yesterday that they want to resign and pay the young studs on our team who will need a new contract.

If we spend that money on FA now's it will also take up significant cap space in future years... So next year when it's time to resign some of our core players we can't because we all ready splashed in the market this year and overpaid for players... Our FO is smarter than that.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
