Hands down...

...the most interesting offseason for the Panthers ever.

Crazier than when Capers left. Crazier than when we were chasing Spurrier. And I have a feeling we've only seen the half of it.

The players getting cut are solid veterans that have given us a nice ride of success. Its the collapse of a mini-dynasty. Closest to one we've had in Charlotte pro sports anyway, post-Dave Cowens. Its hard not to get confused and emotional when you see guys that have been our staples fall apart, lose their edge, or forced out the door before they're ready to retire gracefully. These guys want to play. They want to be here. Not like some of those whom left.

Including the Peppers situation in this flurry of releases is just silly. They tried to lock Pep up, but he made it adamantly clear in his actions that he wanted to go to the highest bidder as soon as possible. He tested the open waters and caught a whopper.

I can't imagine Hoover playing for any other team in the league. I wish Jake the best with his horses. There's nothing saying we won't resign these players later in the offseason. Stranger things have happened.

The cuts hurt but they needed to be made. Now they're free to test the open market and get fair market value for their abilities.

I just wish they would have retired Panthers. I hope some of them still will.
