A look around the NFC South draft after round 1

MARK it down McCoy will have a better career than SUH. Gerald was way more consistent than Suh over the course of his college career. Suh had monster games during big time games. Suh's frame is MAXED out. McCoy could add more bulk and upper body strength. Not only that he landed in Tampa and he is a PERFECT fit for what they want to do. As far as the picks of our rivals. I liked them they did a good job. Robinson is a raw coverage CB but he could become very good. The Falcons needed younger linebackers and they now have a leader. And McCoy is gonna be a beast.

I want at least a pound of whatever you are on. McCoy and Suh went against the same OL's in college and Suh absolutely dominated were McCoy was above-average. McCoy will never live up to the billing of his draft spot.

Suh was far and away the best player in this draft. I would have been very unhappy if the Panthers had the third pick and took McCoy. I am happy that TB got him though. He is a an undersized DT, which is not a bad thing but there is no talent around him. If you are going to feature a quick one gap DT you need a dominate NT beside him for him to succeed. At TB he is going to be double teamed constantly and he does not have the strength to handle it. He is going to get run over.

I personally think that TB would have been better served to grab Okung. I am glad that they didn't, the Panthers OL is going to run all over McCoy. He reminds me of Amobi Okoye. Everyone was so excited about that guy, extremely quick DT that was going to be able to put on the body mass and dominate. He is a decent DT but mostly a 3rd down rush specialist, he gets manhandled by bigger OL's.

I'm sorry but this is wrong. McCoy is a GREAT player, not disagreeing with that, but Suh is better. I don't know what makes you think he was inconsistent, but let me give you some stats(stolen from another forum) :

Alabama D-Line

98 Tkl, 23.5 TFL, 9.5 Sk, 20 QBH, 5 PBU, 0 Int, 1 FF, 3 Blk

Florida D-Line

112 Tkl, 33 TFL, 14 Sk, 48 QBH, 5 PBU, 0 Int, 1 FF, 0 Blk

Texas D-Line

116 Tkl, 25.5 TFL, 15.5 Sk, 10 QBH, 7 PBU, 0 Int, 2 FF, 0 Blk

???????????

82 Tkl, 23 TFL, 12 Sk, 24 QBH, 10 PBU, 1 Int, 1 FF, 3 Blk

------------------

Can you guess who ??????? is ? It's Ndamukong Suh, BY HIMSELF. Suh is the best defensive tackle prospect in the past decade. He was the best player in college football last year, and deserved the Heisman, but didn't get it because he was a defensive player.

I am aware of the stats. I am just not ignoring the fact that McCoy is one year younger, does not have injury issues and has better technique. My secondary team the LIONS got a lot better already.

No, he doesn't. McCoy is all lower body and unless he gets a lot stronger in his upper body and develops some hand techniques he will get dominated by average to good o-linemen.
