Actually, one of the most important things a good pass rushing DE needs to do is dip down to get around the OT, so being shorter can have it's advantages. The disadvantage comes if the OT is able to stand you up, then they have all the leverage.

I know the benefits of being low and in theory, you're right. But a d-end needs to do more than just get low. I played o-line through college and have done pass-pro drills close to 8 million times. The problem with being a short d-end in the NFL is the tackles are better athletes and most have pretty long arms which makes it easier to lock up a shorter guy that probably has a shorter wing span. Once a tackle gets locked on and extends his arms, a short guy is pretty much shut down. Somebody with longer arms can counter with a swim or rip technigue or a shoulder slap like Reggie White mastered.

Not saying Brown will not be successful, because I think he will. Just saying he needs to get a lot stronger to make up for his height.
