CLEVELAND (AP)—The Cavaliers returned home and returned to form.

LeBron James scored 38 points, Mo Williams and Delonte West added 22 apiece and the NBA’s best home team avoided its first three-game losing streak by beating the San Antonio Spurs 101-81 on Sunday.

Embarrassed in a 29-point loss in Orlando, a humbling defeat that came one day after a humiliating loss at lowly Washington, Cleveland played with purpose at both ends and improved to 37-1 at home. If they can win their final three home games, the Cavs would match the 1985-86 Boston Celtics (40-1) for the best home record in NBA history.

CLEVELAND (AP)—After every 3-pointer, every dunk and every block, LeBron James turned and glared at Boston’s bench. The message was clear: Not here.

James made five 3-pointers and scored 29 points before dancing in his seat, and the Cleveland Cavaliers throttled the NBA champions 107-76 on Sunday to move within one win of matching the 1985-86 Celtics for the best home record in league history.

At 39-1, the Cavs can tie Boston’s mark against Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Equaling those Celtics of Bird, McHale and Parrish, though, won’t mean anything if the Cavs can’t dethrone the current guys in green sometime this spring. The Cavs led 31-9 after the first quarter, opened a 30-point lead in the second and turned a possible playoff preview into a rout.

It was Cleveland’s most lopsided win ever in 173 games against the Celtics.

Lebron>Kobe at least Lebron and the Cavs can beat the Bobcats, Kobe and the Lakers don't even know how to do that.

It's quite a bit more important to be able to beat a team like Orlando who the Cavs were 1-2 against this year.

Do not be at all surprised if the Cavs are eliminated from the playoffs by Orlando or Boston.

It's quite a bit more important to be able to beat a team like Orlando who the Cavs were 1-2 against this year.

Do not be at all surprised if the Cavs are eliminated from the playoffs by Orlando or Boston.

This playoff is goin to be exciting. The East is far stronger than the West this year. If Cavs sew up home court for the entire dance, thats a big cushion to have.

How the hell can you say that when all the West playoff teams are 50 win plus teams but you have .500 winning percentage teams from the East in the playoffs? You did notice the Bobcats almost made the playoffs in the East right?

FFS, the Pistons are 2 games under .500 right now and have clinched a playoff spot. :rolleyes:

The West is weak this year. Think of all the garbage West teams that those playoff teams feast on. LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Sac Kings, OKC Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, Timberwolves, etc. With the Spurs banged up, outside of the Blazers I dont see anybody in the West thats a threat to the Lakers. But Cleveland, Boston, and Orlando all are as good or better than LA. The East is all about bruising half court defense, the West is about rhythm offense. In the playoffs, the game slows down and the scoring is harder to come by. Whoever comes out of the East will win the title.

The Celtics and Cavs currently have no one over .500 in their division. The Magic have the Hawks and the Heat in their division over .500.

The west has a team with a winning record that will miss the playoffs. I'll agree that the top 3 in the east are better then the top 3 in the west but overall the west is better. Hell after the top 3 in the east no one would make the playoffs in the west.

Thats just looking at overall records. Keep in mind those Eastern teams dont get to play the Kings, the Thunders, the Clippers, etc 3-4 times a year. Look at the East record vs. the West this year 231-218. 8 teams in the East (including our Bobcats!!!) have winning records against the West this season! The Cavs are 26-4 against the West! With Bynum back and the Lakers bench I don't know how you can say the Lebrons are a better playoff team than the Lakers. Lamar Odom comes off the bench for the Lakers, pretty deep team.

Sure San Antonio is getting old, so are the Celtics.

      Before the draft, Panthers G.M. Dan Morgan was vague when asked about the future of edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. After the draft, a report emerged that the Panthers engaged in pre-draft conversations about possibly trading Clowney. It was no shock, then, when the Panthers moved on from Clowney, on Thursday. In eleven NFL seasons, Clowney (the first overall pick in 2014) has played for the Texans, Seahawks, Titans, Browns, Ravens, and Panthers. He fully intends to keep going. “I’m definitely gonna play well,” Clowney told Joseph Person of TheAthletic.com. “You can mark my word on that. I don’t care where I end up playing at, I’m gonna play extremely well.” Clowney seemed to disagree with the Panthers’ decision to part ways. “I think I played well for Carolina [last] year, considering the circumstances that . . . unfolded for me,” Clowney said. “I played with a bunch of guys that was hurt this past year. And I ended up playing extremely well for them. So it is what it is. I can play the game. I can play football. There are 31 other teams. I just hope another team gives me that opportunity so I can prove myself again. I feel like I can do that.” “I got a sense then they wanted me out of the building,” Clowney said. “I was just like, ‘Y’all could’ve told me this back when I was coming in here during the offseason.’ I kind of had a sense, though.
