Cellphone plan questions

Ok...my wife has a Blackberry through Sprint. 450 min/ unlimited text/data

Costs around ~$70/month.

Other than the one time phone activation charge...what monthy costs would I see if I'm wanting to add an HTC Evo to the account.

I have a work provided basic cell...but I'd love to have a personal smart phone.

*** Sprint.

your welcome for the advice.

What's wrong with them? I've been with Sprint for 10-15 years and they've been good for me. I believe they have the lowest priced plans.

Although I have been contemplating a change to Verizon since I have a Palm Pre and they include the mobile hotspot app for free. Sprint won't even let you have it, even for an extra fee. I have managed to get it anyway and they haven't said anything to me about it yet (I'm sure my data usage has shot through the roof). If they do say anything about it, I'm definitely switching to Verizon when my contract expires.

Doesn't Sprint have an unlimited everything plan? IDK. If it was att I could tell ya. Best to walk into a Sprint store or call them and ask. In fact, do both. That'll tell you more. Check with WalMart at a store too and could you not do it online? att has it different at all places. I often follow the links for upgrade information, etc online then kill it before accepting at the end. That way all the "small" charges show up.

I loathe Sprint...

We had Nextel and after the merge with Sprint, the service was much much worse than crappy Nextel was... We wanted to upgrade phones or something so that we could get better service... They wouldn't let us do it until our 2 year contract expired (which we had re-upped right before the merge)...

Our argument was that with the dropped calls and lack of coverage, Sprint was not upholding their end of the contract for providing service... So we told them to eat it and cancelled everything...

Then they said we owed them $200 in cancellation fees.. Again, our argument was that they were not providing the services that they were charging us for, forcing us to go to another company...

It went on for months and months of them sending us a $200 paper bill in the mail... We ignored it... Eventually, they turned us over to a collection agency... After several more months of harrassment by them, wifey got tired of it and just paid the damn $200...

I vowed never to go back to them again... for anything...

Stay far away...

Verizon has been the best company I have ever dealt with when we had any issues as far as our cell phones are concerned... They also have pretty much the best coverage area of anyone out there...

Oh, and as far as plans go, I have 450 minutes and unlimited everything else for my Moto Droid and my bill is like $84 and some change (with a State Employee discount of like 10%)...

for a single phone...but what happens when you add a second phone on your account.

    • Me and you clearly have different definitions of production. If you remove the 2023 season where Thielen had just over 1k yards he is 43rd on our all time receivers list just ahead of Jonathan Mingo. And before you ask why would we remove that season? Well a couple reasons. For one thing we won a whopping 2 games. And for the biggest. Thielen was 14th in targets in 2023. We absolutely force fed him the ball all season and finished with the 32nd passing offense. For comparison sake 33 year old Jerricho Cotchery eclipsed over 1k total yards in just 2 more games and with 67 less targets than Thielen did in that 2023 season. He has above average hands. That's it. We overpaid him because we were desperate and overvalued him. That's the reality no matter how many times you or anyone else wants to quote me and get defensive about it.
    • He's played great and it was a win-win (rare free agent) for both parties.  One of the points is he hasn't made enough difference to "waste" 35 million on. Another point is by the time Panthers are hitting their prime, he would have taken snaps away from young WRs/TEs/RBs. "Thus" in the long term, hurting the teams new future "window."  But I dare think of the monkey poo of a offense the Panthers had without him the past 2 years. Lack of talent leads to many problems, including paying a 35 year old to be somewhat respectable. Hes one of few that cared enough and made a effort. Plus you know he's done great stuff in many other ways for the team, community juggernaut, leadership, etc.  Judgement is for AT and his 3 year panther career!!
    • But it has gotten a little wacky. RBs-https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/_/position/rb     A couple months ago iggles made Bark the highest guaranteed RB, jeanty was until then. That's what matters the guarantee. A rookie never played a down was the leader, until iggles howie made things right.  If a safety gets drafted in the top 8 or so, he would have the highest money too or very close to it.    Add in TEs and C too.    Even with the fixed %, the numbers are getting too much for a player that's not proven themselves.     Plus anytime a QB is drafted it screws up the contracts for players around and if next year a punter gets drafted at the same 90th spot, they want the same contract with the 5.7% increase. Teams would be laughing.    Its just reached this point. Another 10 years and I bet the vets will be crying.
