Is Moore a leader in TC right now?

Overall the team does not feel like a playoff team. It feels more like a young team trying to find its swagger (which it is). The loss of the veterans of 2009 has had its toll mainly in the leadership department. This is especially true on offense where there does not appear to be a leader on the field to replace Jake Delhomme. Lets hope someone steps up soon.

Haven't I read reports here about Moore showing he is the leader over the last few days? Anyone have any insight on this?

EDIT: thanks for pointing out my bad grammar :D

He didn't seem very vocal if that's what you mean. He might have been whispering things to guys, but that's impossible to tell from where the fans had to stand. It's difficult for him to step into a leadership role though since he's still learning himself.

He does not yell and wave his arms around like Jake if that is what people perceive as a lack of leadership. Tom Brady does not go crazy and act like a fool, yet he does a good job of leading his team.

Leaders can have different attributes which make them better leaders. I spoke with Gross one time outside of football and asked him what it was like to have Jake in the huddle when he is all fiery, he said, " We have to calm him down a little at times, because he gets very emotional.". To me, I would like someone that has a cool head and stays even tempered, because when emotions get involved it is easy to get distracted.

Steve Reed has an entirely different take on Moore's evolution to being a leader. I suggest that some should read it.

good article. Now what will ESPN report once they start covering teams once preseason games start? They'll probably ignore Matt's good play and focus on how well/bad Claussen performs as #2 QB and suggest that his play is an indication of whats to come for us.

    • Them playing behind a couple more seasoned guys until they get familiar with coverage and pace of play is a good thing though. We really can use them to spell the other guys, and in situational ball especially with Ransom on possible run/blitzing downs.
    • They fuged him over so bad to help cover their bad judgement. About time he got a little something to wrk with.
    • I think completion percentage is a bit of a overinflated stat for a qb too. People place to much stock into it. So many factors to consider with it : receivers, how many attempts are made deep, the defense etc all play a roll in it. When it’s considerably low 50% or less the QB accuracy can come into question. But I don’t think it’s necessarily one of the better percentages to put so much importance into for that position. General effectiveness is far more indicative of the QB you have. First downs, 3rd and 4th down conversions, points scored and clutch plays IMO is how you grade a QB. Always bothered the poo out of me how people downed Cam for his completion percentage and that’s what they used to disregard him as an all time great. Dude damn near averaged 3tds to 1 turnover a game and was an obvious difference maker for us.
