So basically Fowler gets paid to post his opinion in a newspaper when tons of people post more interesting opinions here daily for free.

Man he has a great gig.

wow the comments on this article are absolutely miserable. seriously, go on there and look at this article as well as the other one about our defense. we have some of the most negative freaking fans I think I have ever encountered. sad. just sad sad sad.:banghead::cuss::frown2:

We were able to move the ball once Davidson got his head out of his ass and had decent play calling.

Davidson is now upstairs in the booth and John Fox now roams the sidelines looking down at the microphone box while pushing the button to talk to the booth. He did this all night Saturday.

This is a John Fox offense, I don't care if it's Davidson upstairs, Henning upstairs or Norm Chow upstairs- it's going to look the same. The non-existent offense lies at the feet of the 2011 non-existent head coach.

Such perfect truth here.

Scotty has a point, but if you don't think Steve Smith makes a huge impact on the offense, you are fooling yourself. Hes one of the best receivers in the NFL, and we don't have experience behind him. Defenses have to respect, and it automatically opens up the field for everyone else. good options at TE and RB to check down if necessary, but with everyone on the field, theres no way we don't score points. We've yet to see the entire team on the field.

Complaining about the play calling in the preseason is just ignorant. They are not calling plays to win the game, they're calling plays to get reps for those young WR's. Why in the hell do you folks think they have been passing more than running, and rotating 6-7 different WR's in with the starters ? Do you actually believe that's how John Fox wants to operate during the games that count?

I can't believe you guys can't see this. the Panthers don't have any problems with their running game. Because of this, they are using the entire pre-season to find out how to better improve their passing game, which looks bad because this what they are solely using. Once the regular season starts, look for our offense to be ALOT better, as the run will be able to set up the pass, and Steve Smith and J-Stew coming back. I for one am not worried at all about the Panthers offense right now. Talk to me again in 4 weeks if we are still struggling

I don't know if the offense will be a lot better when the season starts, but I am confident that they will be better with Smitty, Stewart, Otah (assuming he will be ready) and the same #2WR throughout the whole game. And I promise everybody that the play calling will be different than what we have seen in the preseason.

One thing that I really liked from the last game, is that they ran some effective screens. I would love to see more of that in the regular season...especially if the O-line starts slow like they did last year against Philly.

There's actually a good point here. We have been passing more in the preseason than we will in the regular season, trying to figure out which of our receivers we want to keep. Once we're handing the ball off to D-Will and J-Stew a significant number of times, they're going to be breaking off long runs and opening up the passing game.

i was saying this on charlotte observer earlier and no one wanted to freaking listen to me. they all think its the end of the world because in PRESEASON when our best receiver, 1 of our key running backs and linemen is out all the world is going to end.

ur exactly right. we are a run first team. so, we are gonna run it and then throw the ball when we feel necessary. when that happens, we will have smitty for sure and then hopefully someone decent on the other side. if that doesnt work, run run run! we are well known for resorting to the run but hey, who wouldnt when you have the most baller running game/tandem in the league?

Replying to qdog112 (08/30/2010 08:36:12 AM):

"Wake up! A QB and WR need to be in rhythm. I seem to recall Moore working more with the second unit last year. Smith has been out all preseason. How much time have they had to get in sync? The piece is right. The offense stinks and Smith and Wesson can't change that.":

:frown2: I shake my head at these types of fans.

im awake chief. i seem to recall moore bringin us back to .500 last year an connecting with smitty quite a lot. I realize he has been out all preseason. That means nothing. He will be fine once he comes back and gets warmed up. and who better to pit him against than the giants who are out for revenge? trust me, they've had time to get in sync. I never doubt Steve until he proves me wrong and he has yet to do that. You're the one that needs to wake up and realize this is PRESEASON. can't say our offense sucks till it actually counts on Sept. 12.
