Fox must go. We win in spite of him. Enough is enough.

I wasn't sure he should go after the embarrassing loss to the Cards, and after a few days I calmed down and reasoned that consistency is indeed the key to success. In those regards, I felt that having Fox and his staff in place for a long-term would eventually lead us to a championship. After ignoring and overlooking so many obvious signs... It's time to face the facts. Julius has made it clear that Fox doesn't have the team's heart, ears, or minds...

Our players basically coach themselves. The signs have been there for so long. It explains blown coverages and extended periods without adjustments. Stuff we have been doing the last couple of years has been inexcusable, and then we eventually just accept it because we think we are stuck with Fox.

I'm not out to get someone out of a job, but as with any career, when someone isn't doing their job on a consistent basis, they lose it. It's time for him to lose it. A pattern of .500 or below and then a winning season is not consistent. It's inexcusable. We supposedly have a possible Hall of Fame CONSISTENT COACH in Cowher waiting in the wings, and we're bullsh*tting with a guy who can't figure out to double team Larry Fitzgerald and allows Julius Peppers and Tyler F*cking Brayton to drop into coverage on 3rd downs. If enough fans make noise, he will be gone. I'm tired of this sh*t.

Pep's comments and actions have shown that Fox lost his respect. So did Kris Jenkins. Mike Minter just basically inferred he was forced out so Pep should do what's best for him. I believe Rucker was forced out slightly early. Thomas Davis was switched between positions 3 or 4 times. Deangelo sat on the bench for 2 years while an ineffective and fumble prone Foster continued to play in front of him. Players like Jarrett and Barnidge can't see the light of day, yet Fox stuck with COLDbert for 3 years too long. Why? Because he has no f*cking idea what he's really doing. Look at all the things I've just listed. Tell me if you were a player that these things wouldn't make you question your leadership... If you say it wouldn't you'd be lying.

I'm convinced, as many have said, we don't win b/c of our coaching, we win IN SPITE of our coaching. As I mentioned, it appears our players have coached themselves. And when Fox has intervened, the results haven't been good: Gamble's lateral on a punt return anyone?

I typically don't go on witchhunts for someone's job. But the results speak for themselves. Pep has inferred that he gave up on Fox. Pep has hardly spoke, has always been a quiet guy, never one to stir up controversy, and he sat here for 7 years and took it. Now he sees on the other side of the fence and can talk about it. It's what I suspected, and now that it's confirmed, I'm ready for a change. If a guy like this is saying these things, imagine how all the other players feel... Scared to speak out, either b/c of respect for Mr. Richardson or b/c Fox is so insecure he invokes a gag order on his organization to keep people revealing what a true idiot he is.

If he's such a great coach, let's find out after he goes somewhere else. Enough is enough. He's taking the wind out of our franchise now, especially over the last 3 weeks. He's vanilla. He doesn't adapt. Survival of the fittest... And Fox is out of shape.

Agree with everything

We have a horrendous schedule next year too so we won't be able to get by with squeaking out wins against the bad teams and losing to the good teams. Its obvious that Cowher wants the Carolina job and he is a better coach then Fox as the results have shown.

By your logic, anyone who shoots less than 90% in basketball should be benched.

Measure the guy against the success of his peers and you'll see that he's either the luckiest coach in NFL history or he's pretty damned good.

Your post may be heartfelt, but it's wrong and unreasonable.

Damn dude, we went 12-4. No Panther team has ever done better than that. If Jake Delhomme doesn't have the worst game of his career in the play offs, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

No excuse MC... Steve Mariucci went 12-4 and 10-6 his last two seasons with the Niners, winning the NFC West title his last season, a wild-card game, and then got blown out in the divisional against the SUPERBOWL winning Bucs. Guess what happened? He got canned.

Mariucci was well regarded. Then he went to the Lions and either proved not to be the coach he was regarded as or he just wasn't given a chance. The same thing I think will happen to Fox if he is fired.

yea and did san diego think marty would be fired after 14-2? We will never get over the hump with the schemes we run. There so old and basic and one dimensional, this guy has lost the locker room even on a 12-4 team imagine if we got 6-10 or 4-12 next season? We may be talking about smith demanding a trade you never know.

I dont understand why so many fans cant see this. THE team has lost its two most dominant Defensive players in back to back offseasons. THAT should never happen.

What do you base that on?

And what have the 49ers accomplished since then?

    • If you think the NFL or NBA are worried about lawsuits or something like officiating scandals bringing down their empires, I think you're giving them way too much credit.  Go watch the documentary on Tim Donaghy in the NBA and who was involved and what he did.  One of the guys he worked with is still one of the league's top trusted officials, especially for playoff games.  IIRC, they have records showing he was the person Donaghy exchanged phone calls with the most during his time fixing games.  And his reputation is beyond horrible...  but he's untouchable.  I also encourage you to go watch DeMaurice Smith's Breakfast Club interview.  He laid out how for fans, we just know these organizations as a singular, public entity - like THE Carolina Panthers, or THE Dallas Cowboys- but, in actuality, he said that is the public-facing identity of an umbrella company comprised of countless smaller businesses and LLCs.  He is tasked with trying to audit their books, and he said these organizations are structured in such a way that even HE can't ever know what they truly make in a year.  It's impossible.  And now, this is just me speculating on top of that, but you think the league's themselves are structured similarly?  They are untouchable.  IIRC, they are recognized legally as "entertainment" organizations, thus protecting themselves in cases where integrity would come into question.  They are protected, layer, behind layer, behind layer.  Betting works because there is some degree of control that ensures the house wins more than it loses, by a lot.  The short of it is, "Give them bread and circuses" and all that jazz.  These leagues operate with total impunity.  Again, it's not just because I'm a Panthers fan, but even if I wasn't and I watched Superbowl 50 without a dog in the fight I would walk away feeling like that outcome was controlled and influenced HEAVILY to where the Panthers were not given a level playing field.  The same poo happens every Sunday to teams playing those blue blood franchises and ones with intriguing storylines.
    • This Chuba isn't getting traded, but Rico very well could be in a few weeks if he keeps playing well in a tandem backfield with Chuba also playing well. I think we'd end up going with a two headed monster in that case, but with Rico being on a one year deal, it does open up the possibility of a contending team offering up a decent pick for him.  Depending on the recovery of Hampton, I could see someone like the Chargers giving us a 4th for him if they think he could put them over the top, he would fit nicely in a Harbaugh system I think. If it comes to that, we need to make that trade, as I can't see any way we re-sign Rico with all our other needs and getting Brooks back too.  And he's not going to get a contract big enough to get us any comp picks in return, especially if/when we sign a FA or two ourselves.  So if we're not going to bring him back, the prudent decision would really be to get a draft pick for him at the deadline.
    • It's all about what they do at QB. It's clear the rest of the roster is improving. If they commit long term to Young because he's being carried to wins then we're fuged. I think that's a separate issue to finally being competitive again.  There's no QB in this Draft that's going to ride in on his white horse on day one and save us, so we absolutely shouldn't be playing for Draft position.
