Whats so hard about franchising Pep, trade him for a 1st rounder(Like I said teams who really want Pep, will give up what they want to get him to make their team better)

If they not giving a 1st round pick, we keep him on the roster. Which puts him in a bad situation cause he hold out all season he just missing a whole year at age 29, not a good thing to do. If he play, he just plays

Dont stop us from continuing to find ways to get better and keep working

cause it makes it really difficult to keep him by giving up 17 of our 10 million in cap space to just one player when we have an all pro LT that we need to sign as well. To Fran Pep and keep gross in Carolina we would have to make some massive cuts that gave us another 14 million in cap space.

something like that may yet be done. we have over month to get something done.

there is going to be a lot of teams competing for him on the open market...some with much deeper pockets and a lot more cap room than others. we just have to find one of those other teams who really want him and don't want to risk him hitting the open market and going somewhere else. that team will be willing to get something done.

we will find them.

Yeah but its only one year

After that he's gone. That means this offseason we can find some talent through the draft. Then next year when can. Its other ways

And its plenty of people we should cut thats is making a nice amount of money but hasnt done crap

But I still think trading him, somebody will give up a 1st rounder

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
