Today in my first period, I was teaching weather expressions in Spanish. One of the activities from the book was asking what the weather was like in certain places in a certain month. For example:

En Louisiana en noviembre

One of my students didn't know where Lousiana was. One of the students next her said "Do you know where New Orleans is" and she responded "Whats that?"

I seriously facepalmed right there. Our country is doomed if this is our future.

Just tell them its the foot in the US and they should get.

There are different dialects of the Spanish language....all over South America and all over Spain.

The education system started failing when they lumped all the students together and started teaching standardized testing material instead of sharing knowledge and data. Amazing that America is so behind other leading nations.

That said, is it all her fault she did not know the location/city, or are parents, educators who passed her, and the system as a whole to blame?
