Anyone here play Rec or Adult Hockey?

Just curious to if anyone here on the Huddle plays Rec League Ice (Or Roller) Hockey? I'm starting out, still learning to skate properly...but my interest has been peaked.

I played a ton of street hockey when I was a kid...busted up my shins. Dunno if I could handle it now, haven't skated in awhile.

we used to play twice per week, no practices...and so many times there would only be 7 or 8 of us on our team, so we'd always get a load of ice time. Every spring I'd be in fantastic shape!

Just went for my second skate today. Got in an hour and a half. It was great until the Boys & Girls club of Greensboro showed up...then it became a madhouse lol. Got a better feel for it so I should begin working on starting and stopping techniques next week. This visit was much better as I wasn't given a skate size two sizes to big. Last week I was given a 12 (I wear an 11.5 shoe) when I should've been given a 10. The 10 was way better lol.

I used to play beer league back in Charlotte. We had a pretty set team because I played with a lot of kids and fathers who I grew up playing with. I occasionally play some pick up here in Greenville, but no league games really.

I would love to get on the ice again, played for 10 years. Icehouse in Pineville has a Rec league.

I hear Pineville has one of the nicer Ice Houses. Wilmington however has the one to beat from what I hear.

Not sure how Greensboro stacks up, but it does it's job.

Pineville Icehouse is nothing special. I used to have games at 5:30 am or 11:00 pm at Eastland mall before icehouse was built very interesting sites at that time of day/night.

Only thing I hate about the Greensboro Ice House is I have to drive 40 minutes to get to it. Other than that, I love it.

if you ever get the chance to play on the big rink...do it. I've played at Rexall a couple of times, where the oilers play, and it's fricken pretty cool.

Unfortunately I think the closest I'll get to a big rink is on NHL '11 lol. Maybe the Greensboro Coliseum Annex could be an option later on...but no big time rinks for me.
