I'm watching their River Plate concert from last year on AXStv right now.... had it on DVR...

To be fair, they were 2 different bands. Bon with ACDC was more blues-based and played a very different style than when Brian Johnson was named the front man.

A simple third chord guitar with a basic drum and a lot of bass. Hard rock... not sure I'd ever classify ACDC as "metal."

Some of the crowds from those shows are ridiculous. Especially River Plate aw years ago & Donington in '91.

AC/DC receives a lot of criticism & hate in the US. But globally speaking they are/were loved & the biggest, baddest live show out there.

After two days of massive speculation, Australian hard-rock pioneers AC/DC have shot down rumors that they are retiring. Frontman Brian Johnson has instead revealed that the band is going ahead with plans to record a new album, though admitted that founding member Malcolm Young is "taking a break from the band due to ill health."

Blah blah blah.  Bon was A voice.  Not THE voice.  AC/DC was way more successful after 2-19-80, than before.  Scott elitists are annoying.

  

Bon Scott made AC/DC. If they had started in 1980 with Johnson & never had Scott they would've flamed out by 1985.

Bon Scott- 5 years, 5 albums, 45 tracks

Brian Johnson- 30 years, 9 albums, 109 tracks

Bon Scott IS AC/DC. Just because he died as they were becoming a giant & never saw what he created doesn't mean anything. Johnson was just along for the ride & reaped the benefits of Scott's work.

During their last world tour they played twice as many of Bon Scott's songs as Johnson's. Even though Johnson was with the band 30 years & had 109 songs compared to just 5 years & 45 songs by Scott. And 4 of those 5 were from the back in black album.

& to the guys who say Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Queen, etc are better than AC/DC...

I don't see any of those bands doing world tours in their 60's in front of crowds of 250,000+ like AC/DC @ River Plate.

All 3 you mentioned are/were far better musically than AC/DC... but the comparison you're making isn't quite apples to apples.

 

Experiencing a Led Zep concert is akin to watching Shawshank.... an AC/DC concert is more like Animal House. I mean, I'll go see both, but I'm not expecting anything but a 3-chord hard rock, heavy beat party with AC/DC while I'll be musically enchanted at a Led Zep show.
