The Panthers STILL need WR help.

"Line up Stewart & Williams in backfield with one splitting out to WR"

I think that is a better option than lining Hoover up out there. Who do we think we're kidding when we did that?

"I'm of the opinion screens should be used as few times as possible."

There are times and situations for screens. It is my belief that we did not use them properly. One can attempt too many, where the defense isn't surprised by them, but we will never be accused of that. But, screens can also be spread out effectively, utilizing WRs as well as Rbs. With the caliber of backs we have in Stewart and Williams, we have NO EXCUSES for not throwing more of them, to them.

As for any perceived need for more or other WRs being acquired via the draft or free agency, I don't think we need to. It won't do any good if our QB(s) can't get the ball to them. Maybe throwing more to the other WRs we have will open up the big play opportunities for Smith even more. But our QB(s) have to make that happen. I think Moose has another good year in him if he stays healthy, he is among the very best in this league for going up and making the tough catches with multiple defenders hanging off him. I'd like to see our TEs used more, again, to open up opportunities for the WRs. We have the nucleus to have a great offense, IF our QB(s) can execute their fundamentals better. We seem to want to have a ball control offense, looking for the TEs facilitates that. If the defenders start to look at them first as well, then the WRs should be able to make more things happen. That is Offensive Football 101.

I basically agree with the above. We need to use Stewart and Williams to confuse defenses. No silly wildcat crap. But line up Stewart and Williams in WR slot formations. Flip them around. Work with Stewart on receiving more in the offseason. Line him up at WR and fake for the run. Then fake for the pass. They are both threats that defenses will take notice of. If we can use them to make defenses think twice, then comeon. Do it.

I also agree that given the potential of Stewart and Williams, we should try screens more often. Utilize Moose/King/Hoover on those plays as they are some of our best non-OL blockers. I'm not a fan of screens (due to their potential for big chunks of lost yardage), but I think we need to utilize a bit more eclectic of offensive packages.

I too agree that we need to get our TE's more involved in the receiving game. I thought Davidson was gonna make that happen, and Week 1 with Rosario made me extremely excited. Guess that didn't work out. Dunno if that is the fault of Rosario, Delhomme, Fox, or Davidson. I know Fox likes his TE's as blockers first, but I think we need to get them a bit more involved.

As for WR's, I think we need to draft another WR or scoop up someone in FA. Hackett has gotta go, and idk if it is the fault of Delhomme or Jarrett, but Jarrett has been a ghost for two years. He's made a few key third down conversions, but it just doesn't seem like he is a reliable target. I like Moose for another year, but how much gas does the guy really have left? That's exactly why I want to draft a WR now so that hopefully they can be groomed for Moose's departure. I don't think Jarrett is gonna be the guy to step up.

Our WR corps is fine. We have several young one that will grow & get better with Jarrett, Robinson, Kenneth Moore (I hope he show some flash if he stick around when TC start), etc. We need to focus on our DT & DE along with changing the secondary's scenarios before we focus on the WR situation.

Williams-Bryce Stadium and Kenan Field. Two of the finest places on this earth. Need I say more?...

lol

You could say more about its hell-like heat and it's wonderful fanbase that leaves in the third quarter whether the Gamecocks are winning or not...but no, you don't HAVE to say more. :D
