bradford has been pretty bad the last few weeks, but he still broke a couple rookie records... completions and attempts I think it was. he's still looked better than Clausen, though amusingly enough, I think that if he played here a lot of the same complaints would exist about him relating to his down the field game.

Bradford: 354/590 3512 yards 18/15 TD/INT Passes on 20+ yards: 36

Pickles: 157/299 1558 yards 3/9 TD/INT Passes on 20+ yards: 16

Bradford had a great season but really struggled most of his last 5 games... and yes, a lot of it has been on the receivers.

Clausen has just struggled all season, though 2 of his last 3 games he threw a TD pass in. Woo go Clausen.

So Jimmy has the following:

Half the amount of attempts

Just shy of half the amount of completions

Just shy of half the amount of yards

Just shy of half the completions over 20 yards

Just a shade more than half the interceptions

The only thing where these guys have been that different is TDs.

Bradford is a better QB and should progress from here, however everyone thinking that a better QB would do much better in the offensive system this year is missing the point. Our offensive production has gotten worse and worse since Davidson has taken over, as our offensive philosophy becomes more and more outdated.

Clausen was only part of the problem, mainly due to him being a rookie, however there were far more pressing problems than just a rookie singal caller. It's no coincidence that ALL the Qbs who played for us this year posted sub 60 QB ratings.

I agree. I don't think a great QB would have done great here this year. Clausen misses some open passes, but hell, he is used to being hit on every play. Get him some time in the pocket.. If he still looks like poo, move on with him. Do I think we should pick up Luck? Yes.., but Clausen could still be a decent QB.

This was just having some fun, and something a little different than all the Luck/Harbaugh BS.

But, I do agree that Davidson and Fox were the problem more than Clausen. If an OC would actually call plays to show some of Jimmy's strengths, instead of trying to force him to do something a certain way you want, maybe we would have seen some progression. Not defending Clausen at all, but I think he could have had a better year with another staff. The rookie WRs stats prove that to an extent.

Exactly.

It would be foolish to declare Clausen a lost cause after this year. Once he got into the mindset that he was the starter for the season he actually played a bit better towards the end of the season and was MUCH more aggressive with his throwing.

If Luck comes out, he is the #1 pick. Without a doubt. Unless you have a bonafide franchise QB, you take the best Qb there is, no questions asked. Then we have the luxury of Jimmy lighting it up in the new scheme and someone chucking a lot at us for one of our QBs.

I just think people are getting carried away with Jimmy being the sole reason we have struggled. Our offense struggled before this season and got worse when we had 3 rookies in 4 of the skill positions in the passing game.

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
