Putting together a new tower

Recommended Posts

I am tired of upgrading my components on my desktop so I am going to splurge and get a new rig together.

I need to stay on the cheaper side, and have honestly not gotten into hardware reviews in 10+ months. I wanted to check and see if any of you guys have ordered from newegg recently and have enjoyed what they have gotten (anything and everything)?

Yep, a nice case is a must. Here is the one I got about 6 months ago with my last build. Lot's of room and won't break the bank. Great air flow with up to 7 fans. I also like that the psu is on the bottom. This has plenty of room for any video card on the market today.

That doesn't look like it would fit most computer tables. :|

I picked up one of these as an open box special for $545 for the g/f for xmas.

Had to replace the pooty psu in it already, and the ram is only 1333mhz. But other than that, you couldn't build that pc that cheap.

I haven't seen a game it wouldn't devour yet at 1920 resolution.

My next rig will probably be an ibuypower i7 open box. Just plan on replacing that psu asap.

Why do you need 2 computer cases?

Pretty much the same machine I gave the g/f for xmas, except I only paid $550. $630 counting psu.

I'd get better ram than 1333 if I were building it from scratch.

I ordered some pieces off amazon separately, so I put this together as a mockup for them to be in one place and accidentally doubled up the cases, but didn't order 2 :)

I'd get better RAM and a bigger HDD. The prices on HDD's really make 1TB easily feasible as the price jumps between the successive hard drives aren't really that high.

I've found newegg to be fantastic in all aspects.

Though there are rumors that they artificially inflate the reviews of certain products by removing bad reviews.

Probably because most reviews are completely stupid and people will rate something 3 stars just because they didn't know how to install it.

    • Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.
    • height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.
    • People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
