westeros is actually britain, ireland, scotland, spain, and france all twisted a little

the dornish are spanish, the highgardens are france/italy, kings landing and lannisport is england, and the north is ireland/scotland(loosely)

sothyoros is africa and east of the narrow sea where dany is the middle east and based loosely on persian and oriental cultures

i'm not sure but i think braavos may be based on greece or the culture before the greeks

what about north of the wall? Russia?

northeast corner of the continent has a city that would resemble egypts placement, but the pyramids are in mereen

i guess if i really wanted to get technical, i could figure out which city is babylon, which is constantinople, etc but i really don't care that much

most of the other stuff i mentioned is pretty obvious

the lannisters remind me of germans a bit too, with their demeanor and blonde hair/blue eyes

also, while i think the north represents ireland/scotland, north of the wall to me is represented by an older era of the same location, when druids and pagan tribes ruled the wilds

wildlings = pagan tribes of europe before roman dominance

That doesnt look anything like Europe or Asia...

he's talking about the layout of the climates and such, when you scale the continent of Westeros across the continent of Europe... The area really does reflect the shape of the UK itself a lot
