Lee Ziemba met with Newton on playbook

I don't expect either Newton or Clausen to be the driving force behind this. They are a 2nd year and rookie in this league.

Wish we were seeing Gross, Kalil, Beason, etc stepping up and doing this.

Comes down to personality. Other than Beason, we don't really have many true leaders on the team, which aren't going through some level of negotiation with the team.

Smith is a leader, but allegedly wants to leave.

Kalil is smart enough to put it together but he's franchised.

Gross has the money but is too quiet, seems to mind his own business.

DeAngelo Williams is a free agent.

Clausen hasn't played well, and doesn't have the money. He might ask(not demand) people to come anyway, but some would ignore him, and he would have to ignored his critics(there are plenty), and he'd need a few key players to agree and back him up. He'd also need Newton to leave him alone or participate/contribute while this happened. It would take a MAN to get all that done in those circumstances.

Moore can't do it, cause he might not even be kept on the roster.

Otah has the money to do it, but might be trying to stay off his injury for as long as possible, or he might be trying to HIDE HIS ONGOING INJURY.

Wharton has some money to do it, but isn't really a leader, and probably doesn't want to be one either.

Yeah, no clear leader this year. Scary.

He was really bad during the drills at the Combine, before that he was rated a 2nd - 3rd round pick. Also had some concerns about his knee and it's condition.

He wasn't 'bad' he just wasn't as quick on his feet as some of the other OTs. Ziemba is smart, sneaky good and mean. I can't tell you how many times I saw him pancake DE's, drive them to the ground and steer them right out of the play. He doesn't miss many blocks and he's always where he's supposed to be. He's gonna have a blast in the NFL with the less strict holding rules. He loves to run down field and take out LBs and DBs on run plays, sweeps, screens, etc.

gross has some of them working out already. they aren't working on the playbook, but they are working out together.
