Roger Goodell: Time coming soon to cancel first NFL game due to lockout

It would be nice if they could figure a way to make them mean something. Even if its something small like the MLB all-star game that was once meaningless and now counts for home field advantage in the world series. Something along those lines. But that really will not change much in the eyes of most fans because they do not understand what a preseason "game" is.

Essentially these are organized scrimmages, glorified with officials, uniforms, lights, and concessions. People listening to the stubborn views of Packman over the last half-decade saying "it means nothing and therefore is unnecessary" have become a bit jaded against it yet millions flock to watch NFL teams at camp every year and the first question that arose about a player organized workout was "is it open to public?".

Face it. We as NFL fans like practice. We like it so much we created a market for preseason scrimmages becoming a commodity for which people will pay money to watch. Now, newer fans are confusing the two things. There are games and there are practices. There are four practices you promised to pay for every year when you signed on the dotted line and now since some may regret that decision a bit they want to claim that these "games" they have to pay for are "worthless" and they don't want to pay for them anymore.

Understand the difference and try to educate your neighbors people. Go and enjoy it for what it is, or sell your ticket, or give the ticket to the boy's and girl's club, or stay home and burn your tix in a private rage if you have to. Nobody wants their experience ruined by some ignorant fan who wishes he never bought that PSL 4 years ago.
