Alex Smith handles the Media

The media whores who write trash about him year round decided they'd be more than welcome at the practice he set up.

Regarding the practice closure, security guards were asked by Alex Smith to request that the media leave Spartan Stadium. Media members said they were not inclined to leave, citing the fact that it was a public university.

That prompted Smith to come over himself and emphasize that this not an issue he was going to relent on. Bottom line: Smith indicated that they would not begin workouts until the stadium was clear.

He literally walked the media out, pleasantly but firmly.

Seems they reached a truce though:

The issue of closing the practice was somewhat resolved, with word that players will open practice to the media for 30 minutes Tuesday, from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.

I don't blame Smith and I honestly think all practices should be closed to fans and media. We live in a 'gotcha' world where cameraman are aggressively trying to find anyone saying the word 'fine young male' or do anything that might not be typical behavior at church. Quite pathetic. You can't have a relaxed environment anymore. Everyone has their camera out and everyone knows youtube.

Certain fans and media have ruined everything for the rest of us with their disrespectful behavior toward players.

Then you have the New England Patriots...

I much prefer the setup the Bobcats have for their practices. They have people employed by the team who make videos of practices. Obviously if anything is offensive it can be edited out.

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
    • I've got nothing else to say really than: Ayup. Here we are again. Again.  All we can really hope for is progress. If we improve as much again, it'll be good. If we don't, it'll be foretold.
