Salary plan will help/hurt these teams...

I know there's already been Several of these but it's a good read, and gives you an idea of what/who will be active when FA begins... it is a different article than the ones already posted...

Here's the Carolina excerpt

"4. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers want to re-sign defensive end Charles Johnson, linebacker Thomas Davis, running back DeAngelo Williams and cornerback Richard Marshall. They have plenty of cap room and incentive to do that. Their payroll is currently at $70.5 million, meaning that owner Jerry Richardson would have to put close to $50 million into play. But they also have $30.65 million in cap room, so they shouldn't have much trouble getting those big deals to work. The Panthers aren't expected to be big players in free agency but they will be one of the top teams in trying to re-sign their players."

Nothing really new but they mention other teams as well...

Edit: if you dont read the actual article it's important to note that the article said the new cap floor will Hurt TB... They are a young team with loads of young and cheap talent already... They will be forced to spend big $$ during FA... So expect the Bucs to land a couple of big names.

IMO, this is bad for us... Time will tell

If we sign all of our guys, I consider us big winners in Free Agency.

If we sign all of our guys we want to AND sign a DT and/or CB I consider us hands down winners of the Lockout.

No doubt... We have big name CORE guys that need to be resigned. Without them we lose big time!

I knew that TB had more money than us, but never thought about them being so active in FA since they've always been a team that builds through the draft.

It honestly scares me a lil bit that they have the means to go after Aso from Oakland. It's pretty widely known that we will not even entertain going after him.

I never thought I'd hear this come out of my mouth ever... But we will need to keep our eye on these guys.

Our division is gonna get tougher... I have faith in our new coaching staff and FO that we will pick up the best available FA's that fit into our system. I'm still looking for us to pick up FA's from Chicago and SD where Rivera led both defenses... We will be a force to be reackoned with... I'm ready for this stupid lockout to end so that we can move forward!

This is a lot of speculation as they have nothing substantial to talk about. I think every GM on every team is paid relatively well. The GM's primary goal is in most cases to work with the coaching staff to field the most competitive team they can come up with in an effort to win, increase fanbase and gain revenue.

If this happened tomorrow 32 teams would do this. Yes there would be some short term money balances but over time everyone will adjust.

There might be some short term perceived advantages but I think everybody has to play the cards they were dealt.

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
