Cam Not Worried About Rookie Wage Scale

Cam Newton will make $22 million guaranteed over four years, which is nice money, but nothing compared to the $50 million guaranteed last year’s No. 1 pick Sam Bradford got from the Rams. That’s all because of the new rookie wage scale implemented in the new CBA pass earlier this week which limits the money rookies can collect.

Instead of being bitter about the loss of potential wages, Newton took the high road on Saturday when talking about his contract.

“It really doesn’t matter,” Newton said. “Any way you look at I still got more money than I ever had. I don’t look at it as a number scale. I’m still blessed with the situation God has put me in. At the same time in this league they set standards. If you play the way you’re supposed to play and how everybody is predicting you to play, you will be alright. You can’t look at it about the numbers scale. I know there was a big dropoff from this year to last year. For me personally I don’t worry about it.”

What is there for him to say? 'This fuging sucks, I should make more than Bradford', the guy had no choice.

I for one am loving these new cut down salaries for draft picks. Funny how fast they get signed now huh? And if they suck, you can get rid of them easy or if someone else thinks they can salvage them, they take on the guaranteed contract for the remainder.
