It's very clear, that Jimmy Clausen's rookie season was not his fault!

I hate him as much as most of you do, but you can't hold a double standard... You just can't.

From what I'm reading on here, Cam had next to NO time to throw due to the o-line... Or lack thereof. Seems to me that we all owe Jimmy a huge apology now that Cam looked just as pooty as Jimmy did last year in an eerily similar game situation. Yes Cam showed flashes and his cieling is higher but you can't hold a double standard.

I'm Sorry Jimmy. I'm kind of glad that this happened so that I could still believe in you.

Our O-line and Defense are going to have to step up BIG time for us to even pull off a mediocre season.

That is all.

This is actually typical of any offense Shula has been affiliated with at every level. Watch 2006 Auburn and Alabama game. It's about the schemes as much as the protection. Auburn sacked Alabama's QB 11 times in one game, and honestly it could have been more. When you see a safety running free completely unblocked against your QB, then you know that is a total failure to recognize the offensive assignment. Nobody even noticed the guy, and he had a completely clean shot against the QB, an NFL db's wet dream.

Shula is ONLY the QB coach, he's using Chud's playbook.

Most offensive staffs design their playbook and protections as a group. Also, it is responsibility of the QB coach to teach the QB to recognize blitz packages. Shula is horrible and always has been. In every game he coached at the college level against a decent team, his QB's were sitting ducks.

    • I expect Young to play better and the team to play better.  Week one is something I refuse to give much weight to, going back to when we had 4 preseason games.    All kinds of unpredictable outcomes happen week one. Seen it too many times to discount that. Since the 17 game schedule, I don’t pay much mind to results and how the units look until week 3. The units just need time to get the teamwork and timing together under real conditions. Not a series at 90% in preseason. That won’t do it. And it is hard to get around it.  But Frank is right when he points to the difference in how the offense looks with an NFL level arm behind center. Seattle in 2023, Vegas in 2024, were just liberating for the passing game.    This Bryce ball is no fun to watch unless he is having a day where  everything is clicking. Which I think we saw one time. Out of 29. Meh.
    • Doesn't help that Coen beat up on Evero's defense pretty good last season both times. Looks (and sounds, according to TLaw) like he has the scheme figured out. 😮
    • Yeah, it’s not complicated. is a seam route a hospital ball? No. can a seam route be a hospital ball ? Yes.   if you are throwing seam routes do you need to make sure you don’t hang your TE/WR out to dry? Yes.  Because of injury.  as a former NFL QB explained….Bryce was late with the throw (common issue with Bryce) and  threw it too far up field.  So a seam route became a hospital ball. result? An incompletion that got his WR banged up  honestly have no clue what Bryce defenders are doing at this point.   I’m out on talking about all his bad throws from Sunday.
