Quality teams get better by developing their own players. You do not have to brign in FA's to improve. We have young players that will continue to improve....Beason, Godfrey, Otah,Kalil, Dwill, Stewart.

thats true, i didnt say stop developing these guys and bring vets all i am saying is that a team will never be made up completely of homegrown talent. you will always have a contingent of fa's on your team. so improve that level of talent.

Why is everybody so damned worried about next year's schedule? The way the NFL is nowadays, there's not a team on that schedule that is guaranteed to be better than us, regardless of who the Panthers sign, or don't sign.

nobodys worried or scared. but i am being realistic, the teams on our schedule are perenially good teams, not teams that came out of nowhere one year and gone the next. i know everyone says that those same teams could have something happen to them and could be 4-12, but i am not counting on that, i view these teams off of what we know about them and performance from last year that is all i can go by. and also about them being better than us , we have got to get a back to back winning season first. then we can talk about teams being guarenteed to be better than us.

Schedule toughness makes a difference. look at last year for example, had a good schedule, went 12-4 2nd seed homefield advantage, if we didnt get wupped by arizona, we could have had the nfc championship at our house. this year we have a tougher schedule, say we go 9-7 and dont make the playoffs, but we played a tough schedule "none of those teams are gauranteed to be better than us". which scenario is better playing a easier schedule, and have a top spot in playoffs or playing the tough schedule pounding our chest at home. my point is that you should never be scared to play anyone, but who you play does make a difference. most coaches and gms would take a easy schedule and have there teams in the playoffs perennial than have a tough schedule and make it through the regular season. last year was a perfect opportunity for us to advance to the superbowl. this year will be alot tougher.

Remember when everybody thought we were screwed when they looked at the December schedule last year? We won 3 out of 4 in Dec., and it could have just as easily been 4 in a row, if Kasay doesn't miss that kick in New York.

that december schedule is like the whole schedule next year, minus the sucky broncos.

And once again, the Panthers had a very good record in December. Also, the Broncos had beaten every other team in the NFC South before we played them, so as easy as it is to call them the "sucky Broncos" now, nobody thought they were gonna be a push over at the time, which illustrates my point perfectly.

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
