If you get a good player, you expect to pay them all season, so there is no reason not to. If your excuse is, "well, if they get hurt, we don't want to have to pay them", then my question is, what's to stop the players you just resigned from getting hurt, ala Beason or Peyton Manning?

True but when your talent level at a position sucks ass they might be better than what we have. That's why we cut DTs we carried in camp.
