Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick

Last night Dre made some nice tackles. He reacted well and made some nice hits. He is really physical when it comes to that and his size is evident. But as far as coverage goes, still doesn't seem like #1 CB quality in that area. He allowed the only TD from the Gators on the opening play where Andre Debose just ran past him. Yes, the safety was out of position but doesn't take away from the fact that Dre was just beat one on one.

One player that I did like (as many people believe LB is a need) was Courtney Upshaw. He is a bit slow but he seems to be all over the field making plays. Not anywhere as good as Rolando McClain from a couple of years ago but still a solid LB. Although probably not 1st round worthy especially where we are selecting (presumably).

I like him but there is a ton of great CBs this year. Kirkpatrick, Jenkins, Clayborn, Denard, Harris, Minnifield, Rhodes, Gilmore are all top 45 prospects at CB in the 2012 draft. If we end up with a top 10 pick I'd try and trade down and get an extra 2nd or 3rd and then draft a Zach Brown or Brandon Jenkins at OLB in the first then take one of the many good CBs in the 2nd and spend the pick we get from the trade down to take the best OG available. Then if we can sign a good vet DT and a legit 2nd WR in FA we would be looking pretty strong.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
