2012 Sf Giants Thread

My buddy plays for them so I've became a fan by default. They're hitting & defensive fielding is absolutely atrocious. Starting rotation is down right filthy if Lincecum decides to return to form. Doubt they beat LA in the west unless they add another bat. Posey & Sandavol are about all they have. Pitching will keep them in the mix for a playoff birth, though.

Go Giants?

HAHAHAHA

Get the FUG out of here! Fug the Giants, I will never let this thread take off.

You straight up just admitted that you jumped on their wagon probably because they won the world series two years ago.

One of my best friends was drafted by the SF Giants in '07. That's when I started following them. I'm sorry he helped lead them to a World Series Championship & is 4-2 against your beloved LA Dodgers.

Keep hating buddy.

Who's your friend? I'll let you know if he "led" them to the championship.

The Dodgers are 27-13, best in the league.

Suck on that, bandwagon.

Madison Bumgarner

He threw 8 shutout innings in Game 4 of the World Series, won a game in the NLDS, & threw 2 scoreless innings in Game 6 of the NLCS.

Lol... I could care less dude. I just watch when he pitches. A few of us flew out last summer to watch a game & SF is full of wackos. Strange city. Their team overall isn't that good. They just have really good pitchers. Although Lincecum continued his horrible season tonight.

Aside from Strasburg & Kershaw Madison is the best pitcher under 25 in the majors. In my biased opinion anyway.

  • 4 weeks later...

SF beat Houston 6-3 last night behind another dominating performance from Madison Bumgarner. He went 7 2/3 innings, allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits, & struckout 12 with 0 walks. Oh, & he hit a home run.

Bumgarner has reached double digit strikeouts in 3 of his last 5 starts. He improved to 8-4 & the SF Giants now sit at 35-27.

SF Giants beat the Astros 10-0 tonight. Matt Cain struck out 14 & threw a perfect game. Best rotation in baseball.

They have a great staff and Cain is an incredible pitcher but no, they do not have the best rotation in baseball.

Right now that would probably be the Nationals.

I would take Bumgarner & Cain over any other 1-2 punch in baseball. Barry Zito is also pitching excellent this season.

Bumgarner & Cain are two of the most underrated pitchers in the majors.

    • Its really wild to watch this part of the community boil down the success of the 2025 Panthers to whether or not BY9 busts or breaks out. Ill take middle of the road mistake free game manager that distributes the ball and orchestrates the offense.  If we can get that with a D that doesnt put us in a 27 point+ hole every week the team can improve. Id love a deep post season run but honestly at this point Id be ecstatic about feeling like we could win every week.   Jake is never going to get a yellow jacket but damn if he didnt make watching the team fun.     eta: I think too many people are looking for an I told you so moment over their pre-draft "evaluation" of Bryce
    • I consider last year Bryce's rookie year.....and I expect some regression/D adjustment in his second season in Canales' O.  Film is film.   So yeah, I agree....he won't be the dude that opened up the year week 1 or closed the door week 17.  We will get some dude in between it all most likely.  Which IMO puts us in a really awkward no man's land with Bryce.
    • The question is which Bryce shows up game 1. Do we get week 2 (2024) Bryce, or week 18 (2024) Bryce?  I will say that his progression after the benching last year was amazing. He literally got better every game - sans Dallas. Like every week he did something we hadn't seen him do before. And it wasn't luck, toss it up for grabs plays like Penix did against Carolina. Penix was just throwing the ball as hard as he could in the direction of a receiver and hoping they'd make a play for him. What we saw from Bryce was different. Decision making, reading defenses, recognizing blitzes and where they were coming from, knowing his hot, avoiding pressure and manipulating the pocket, throwing with anticipation, taking shots downfield, and running the ball surprisingly well. Stats don't always tell the story. Did he miss some throws that he should have made - sure did. But the clutch gene is strong with this one. One score game and Carolina has the ball with 2 minutes on the clock - I'm confident he'll give them a chance to win more than he doesn't.
