Cats making hard run at Goran Dragic, submit offer!

Recommended Posts

The Bobcats are said to be preparing an offer for unrestricted free agent Rockets point guard Goran Dragic.

It's hard to imagine Dragic playing in Charlotte, but it certainly seems possible now, if the money is right. He's also being targeted by several other teams, including the Mavericks, Suns and Raptors, but wherever he lands, Dragic is nearly guaranteed to be a starting NBA point guard next season. He played well enough last season to lose his sleeper status in most fantasy circles, but will be a highly popular PG pick if he lands in the right situation.

The Charlotte Bobcats have prepared an offer for unrestricted free agent point guardGoran Dragic, according to CBSSports.com's Ken Berger.

We already submitted a qualifying offer to Augustin, so if we land Dragic; we could possibly have a damn good group of point guards.

PG- Goran Dragic, D.J. Augustin, Kemba Walker

However, if we land Dragic and someone decides to submit an offer sheet for Augustin; we will most likely not match that offer.

Dragic averaged 11.7 points per game, 5.3 assists per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, and 1.3 steals per game last year with the Houston Rockets.

Dragic also recorded eight double-double's.

Season High's

Points: 26

Assists: 14

Rebounds: 7

Steals: 4

Blocks: 1

Also of note, Dragic hit his stride in the final two months of play last year and that was with a mediocre and semi-talented Rockets team. To be honest, I don't see the Rockets being much more talented than us; they just gave more effort.

Anyway, Dragic had 27 straight games where he hit double figures in the last two months of the regular season; and in those two months seven double-double's and averaged 16.95 points per game.

He was pretty incredible for the Rockets down towards the end of the year.

If we get him for him for a good price, I will be pleasantly surprised and extremely happy. However, I would still be thrilled to have Dragic even if we do overpay him (a little) because of his impressive leadership skills; which is something Augustin doesn't have and never will have and something that Kemba hasn't acquired yet.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
