Eric Gordon wants to sign with PHX

"Eric Gordon is in Las Vegas vying for one of the final spots on the U.S. national team that will play in this summer's Olympics. He wants to go to London. But he doesn't want to come back to New Orleans.

Gordon, a restricted free agent who has a four-year, $58 million offer sheet from the Phoenix Suns, believes they are more committed to his future than the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets acquired Gordon from the Los Angeles Clippers last season in the deal that sent point guard Chris Paul to the Clippers.

Paul didn't want to be in New Orleans any longer, either, and Gordon suggested if the Hornets match the Suns' offer and retain him, they'd be looking at a similar situation. The four-year offer from the Suns, a source said, includes a player option on the fourth year.

"Phoenix just showed a lot more interest, overall, and definitely in how they negotiated," Gordon said. "I don't know what New Orleans' plans are for me. There are no negotiations right now."

GM Dell Demps declined to comment on Gordon's remarks, but a league source said the Hornets are fully committed to matching the Suns' offer sheet. The Hornets identified Gordon as their most talented player even after they drafted Kentucky power forward Anthony Davis with the No. 1 pick and plan to retain him as, if nothing else, an asset.

That the Hornets drafted Duke guard Austin Rivers with the 10th pick also makes Gordon question exactly what their plans for him are.

"They drafted another shooting guard, a combo guard like me, which tells me they have another plan," Gordon said.

The Suns' recent committments -- point guard Goran Dragic and small forward Michael Beasley -- are a better fit, Gordon suggested.

"Phoenix signed two other young guys that are very talented," he said. "They're already established and they're already going to get better.""

I would love for Gordon to go to PHX and F*** Nawlin's spoiled ass fans over. BUT, NO has his rights and will control his destination regardless. According to them, they will match any offer and IIRC, they won't do sign-and-trade either.

With them drafting Rivers, I have no idea what the point in holding him hostage would be. If he doesn't want to be there, get something back in a S&T and let him go.

No way Gordon ends up anywhere other than New Orleans. Cmon, we have seen what luck or cough Stern cough has done for them this offseason. Basically, Stern wont let it happen. I know Benson owns the team but I just dont see him ending up in PHX.

I'm glad the Suns made the offer- NOLA will probably match anyway, but at least they have to overpay now. Great news New Orleans- the star SG you traded for who barely made it on the court last year due to injury is now your first max contract!

I posted this in another thread, but if Gordon lands with the Suns; they will be a solid team next year.

PG: Goran Dragic, Kendall Marshall

SG: Eric Gordon, Josh Childress

SF: Michael Beasley, Jared Dudley

PF: Channing Frye, Markieff Morris

C: Robin Lopez, Marcin Gortat

Gortat will likely start at center for them next year- he just put up a 15 and 10 in his first season as a starter. They certainly have some good pieces to build around, even though I doubt they can sign Gordon away

    • So you can explain how he was top 10....but won't.  We need to look it up ourselves?  I googled it.  Can't find the argument based on stats and facts.
    • Well, I think Nike has it all down to a sweet mathematical science to max revenue of what they average person will buy in terms of price....and what the average person will do with a dirty jersey.   Then they construct them accordingly.   and yeah, it's not about being tackled in them but I'm sure Nike knows exactly how each tier will react to washings...and then sunlight, heat, fading and on and on.    Just asking google about it there are tons of tiktoks, you tubes, reddit posts, etc with folks complaining about what a simple wash can do to a new one.    Your washing machine gets cooler tech....so you pay more now and it doesn't last as long .  My son's football cleats that help max speed got a hole in them before they even made it into the season this past year.     Now our football jersey's are lightweight with new mesh because it's totally better.....the end game is always because the big corporations have found the synergy between new and improved and not lasting as long.  That's my take.  I think everything is made to wear out sooner under the guise of but it's better today.
