Canes Recall Net-minder Peters from Charlotte.

Recommended Posts

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Justin Peters from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis. Rutherford also announced that Hurricanes netminder Cam Ward has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a third-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in the team’s 3-2 win at Florida on Sunday.

Peters, 26, has posted a 22-12-1 record and a 2.29 goals-against average in 37 games this season with Charlotte. The Blyth, Ont., native ranks second among AHL netminders this season with six shutouts, and his 22 wins rank him fourth in the league. Peters (6’1”, 213 lbs.) is in his seventh professional season and has an 11-11-3 record and a 3.23 goals-against average in 28 NHL career games with Carolina since making his debut on Feb. 6, 2010. The Hurricanes drafted Peters in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Let the Elly/Pete Dawg era BEGIN!!!

We have the breaker over Buffalo already from the back to back wins, but if Peters can pull off a win right after a call up then I will feel a little better about Cam's recovery.

If our defense is porous then we need to somehow find a way to snag Yandle.
