Percy Harvin to Carolina?

Harvin is not an elite receiver. He's no deep threat.

My bro in law is a Vikings fan and I watched almost all of his games. He had a spectacular season early on but how? Dump offs and screens. Nothing special.

If we're looking for another slot player, I'd mind as well invest in Tavon at 14. He can actually stretch the field.

My Vikings fan wife > Your bro in law.

Percy is the 9th Ranked WR graded 85 on Scouts, Inc. (ESPN) which is tied with Mike Wallace. He also ran a 4.3 40.

The misconception is that Percy cannot play outside.

He is/was the #1 receiver in Minnesota and does play the Z/X as well as RB both in traditional and read option plays. His greatest asset is his speed, elusiveness and value in special teams. He would be equivalent to a five tool player in the MLB.

If your wife was really a bigger Minny fan than my bro-n- law you wouldnt have to be looking for stats from ESPN. You would know that Percy cant play on the outside. You tell me why Bill Musgrave had to "hide" Harvin in every game. Like I said, he had tremendous speed but hes not a deep threat. Hes a great returner and dynamic slot receiver. If you cant see that than you're just a big "homer".

Minnesota's best receiver the past 4 years was former Vikings, Sidney Rice.

I never pulled out a single stat. Looking at a player's ranking is different and necessary to inform you that he is indeed elite.

He can't play outside? Joe Webb of all people throwing hiim the ball.

Just like Cam Newton, Minnesota tailors their offense to suit Percy's strengths, which happens to be WR, RB and ST.

And believe me, my wife is a bigger fan, bigger than I want her to be. Here's us at the game where Percy opened the season with a Kickoff return for a touchdown against the Chargers.

Trust me, my bro-n-law is from St. Paul MN.

If you've been to Minnesota, you would know that Minnesota is infested with "Hmong" people. They love their Vikings and HATE those Cheeseheads.

I dont ever look at rankings to tell me whos good or not. I look at what they do on game day. Percy to me is nothing more than a polished out Dexter McCluster.

Dont blame Webb for Harvin not being able to play outside. Thats as silly as it get. Harvin had Favre and was playing with Rice in his rookie year. And had Ponder the last two seasons.

I do know, since my wife is half vietnamese and ..... from Minnesota.

The video link I provided was a play in which Percy was lined up outside, contradicting your statement that he doesn't play outside.

I also look at the games not just stats because stats alone don't tell the whole story on Percy. All you have to do is see how much faster and how he can affect games with his play (as previously stated) at WR, RB and ST. Find me 3 if not atleast 1 other player in the NFL that are effective in all three? Players like Percy are one in a million.

We can agree to disagree. I am personally high on Percy Harvin.

HOWEVER, in the end it's all about the $$$$ which is why I don't ever seeing him in Carolina. He will more than likely cost more than we would ever spend on a WR when his contract is up.

I never said he couldn't play outside. I said that's not his game and he would have a hard time trying to impact the game if he was constantly playing from there. His game is running short routes and making plays after the catch. Hes someone you have to HIDE. If not, you're not utilizing him correctly.

And that clip wasn't a highlight from last season. What I'm saying is that his MVP season early sicken me bc almost all of his rec came from short passes. People acted like he pull a sweat catching those 40-50 Rec early on. Im a fan of Harvin but to me he's just a dynamic player. Not elite. Desean is a much much better receiver.

Percy Harvin is not that good. He'd be a nice 2nd receiver, but he's one of the biggest trouble making WR there are right now, and that's not the culture you want. Wallace and Harvin completely rely on their speed, and don't have the best hands. I rather get a bigger receiver who doesn't think they "deserve" to be paid like the top 5 receivers when they are lucky to be considered top 20.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
