15 straight road wins for the Dodgers tonight.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Zack Greinke made himself right at home. Just like the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers have been doing for almost a month.

Greinke pitched into the seventh inning and raised his average to .405 with an RBI single, helping the Dodgers win their 15th straight on the road with a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. This is the sixth city during the streak.

''I think we kind of thrive on an us-against-the-stadium mentality,'' catcher A.J. Ellis said. ''It really brings out the best in ourselves.''

Nick Punto was productive subbing for injured shortstop Hanley Ramirez and the Dodgers got an RBI apiece from Andre Ethier and A.J. Ellis while matching the Cincinnati Reds' 15-game run in 1957. They're two wins shy of the NL record set by the 1916 New York Giants.

Now 6 games up in the West, only the Braves have a bigger Division lead.

Sure wish it was October already.

Down 4-2 in the 9th, Andre Ethier comes off the bench to blast the game tying 2 run dinger.

Then, bottom of the 12th Yasiel Puig strikes again legging a single into a double.

Agon promptly drives him in for the Dodgers 8th straight win.

Go Blue, next stop Philly.

ridiculous.

so I'm not a baseball normally at all.  but my roommate is from LA and has a season pass or whatever, and so we watch every game now, though not always all of it.

I started near the end of June.  First game was the third game of a four game road trip to San Diego, haha.

DENVER (AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershawis being recognized for his work off the field. He's the winner of the 2013 Branch Rickey Award in recognition of his community work.

Created by the Rotary Club of Denver in 1991, the Branch Rickey Award honors individuals in baseball who contribute to their communities and are strong role models for young people.

At 25, Kershaw is the youngest person to receive the award.

Each year, major league teams nominate a player, coach or executive, either active or retired, for the award. The award is named in honor of the late baseball executive known for creating the framework for the modern minor league farm system and for breaking baseball's color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson, the first black player in the major leagues.

''Branch Rickey is a pretty influential person, especially to this franchise. So it has a little bit special meaning to me,'' Kershaw said.

A three-time All-Star and Cy Young Award winner, Kershaw also was honored with the 2012 Roberto Clemente Award for his sportsmanship and off-field endeavors.

Kershaw and his wife, Ellen, founded Kershaw's Challenge, a foundation that seeks to transform at-risk children and communities. Their cornerstone charity, ''Arise Africa,'' has built and sustained an orphanage in Lusaka, Zambia, called ''Arise Home.'' Each year, the Kershaws travel to Africa to visit with children and to bring awareness of diseases and infections related to HIV and AIDS.

''My wife and I, we just feel so fortunate we get to do stuff off the field. To get recognized for it definitely isn't what we're in it for. But it definitely is a humbling thing to get that honor,'' Kershaw said. ''More than anything, it just kind of brings more awareness nationally to what we're trying to do, not only in Africa but what else our foundation stands for. It's a huge honor for us, and we're just grateful for it.''

The Dodgers shut the Atlanta crowd up early tonight and we were all spared listening to the most retarded cheer in sports all night long.

Thanks Blue.

Kershaw dominates striking out 9 of the last 10 batters he faced I believe.

Braves best jump on Greinke early tomorrow or this series will be over quickly.

Mattingly continues to manage with his head up his ass however bringing their closer Kenley Jansen in the bottom of the ninth in a no win scenario and burns him up with 30 pitches thrown.

California, please fire Mike Scioscia so we can bring him home.

Alright Blue up 2 games to 1 and have a potential series close out game in LA Monday night.

Does Mattingly go with Nolasco or bring Kershaw back on 3 days rest?

Save Kershaw for a potential Game 5 or Game 1 of the NLCS.

At least fuggingly Mattingly didn't burn Jensen up for no reason as he did Game 1.

    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
    • I can't see a world where the money goes down, but maybe your lottery odds are now your contract numbers you can offer.  Thunder? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 20 million.  Hornets? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 80 million.  Some form of a system where the money is still there, but so is the freedom of choice (on top of bad teams getting *some* competitive advantage to signing them).
