Hakeem Nicks just seen on Johnston Road

I guess. Although....if he was from Jacksonville and was spotted there this weekend I wouldn't just assume that he was signing there (or not signing here)

there's several NFL players that have houses in the Charlotte area and some have permanent homes here. It's a nice area and relatively cheap compared to other places in the country. I know for a fact that Mike Tolbert had other offers from NFL clubs but he chose to come here based on where his family is from and how further a dollar can stretch in the 704. My buddy played ball with him CCU and this is what he told me.

Randy Moss had a house in Cabarrus county and I've heard London Fletcher lives in Piper Glen. Chris Henry obviously lived here as well.

Regarding Nicks though - his family lives here and he'd probably like to come home and play ....but if some dumbass team like the Raiders throws a 45 million dollar contract his way, he'd be a moron to not take it. Money talks!

how is it a sign of anything?

as was said...that "multi-millionaire" is from here, his parents live around here as does much of his family.

he was home...in the offseason...with family where he is from.

the panthers aren't allowed to talk to him until march 11, so that ain't happening.

there's nothing more to read into it other than him just deciding that he wants to be home. not sure why it has to be anything than that unless you're just really desperate.

the fact that he's a rich guy doesn't mean that all of a sudden you don't want to go home and hang out with your family and friends when you are on vacation.

I'm surprised you moderators let this rediculous thread get this long. As you said, the guy is from here. He is a Charlotte native. His mom lives here. When he isn't needed in NY- he more than likely comes home to be around his family and friends. It's not a big deal and certainly isn't some sort of sign that he's going to sign with the Panthers if you see him driving around in his home town.

Like I said ..there's several NFL players that live in the area. Randy Moss had a house next to Bobby Lutz in Cabarrus county for several years.

Plenty of current (and former) Panther players stay in the Charlotte area. Other athletes as well, Steph Curry, Antwan Jamison, to name a couple ...

Yes. As I said Randy Moss had a house here for a few years, Chris Henry (RIP) lived here, Sheldon Brown has a big ass house on Lake Wylie, Olindo Mare lived in the LKN area BEFORE signing with the Panthers and I've heard London Fletcher lives in Piper Glen. There's plenty more.

Not trying to sound like a celeb house stalker and I don't get star struck easily...just pointing out that rediculous notion that if someone sees a NFL player (especially one who is from here like Nicks) it doesn't mean the Panthers are going to sign them.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
