Before I watch--gonna guess:

1.  DT/DE

2.  Will backer

3.  Starting TE

4.  FS

5.  RT depth

6. C depth

7.  CB depth

where do you put NT?

I've having troubles with my list, its too fluid and the value is crushing me too.

like, edge is back to the top even with Phillips..... or dare say a case of mine can be made...

I still feel panthers have WR on the bullseye...

I haven't changed from my first thought which was trade out of 19 down a few slots. Use the booty to move up in the second to get someone we want. 51 seems just a bit out of the zone.

I have the same thought--almost identical.  However, take a look at Ohio State's Kayden McDonald.  I know he is listed as a NT, but the description of his play and his stats tell me that he can play up and down the line--dare I say it--like D. Brown.

I think he is a NT, but I also think he could play 3T.

This draft is so full of edge players and I see some on Days 2 and 3 that could be steals.

WR?  We need to be good enough beyond TMac to keep the focus off TMac.  We are not there yet--so I see it--

At 19, you are right.  Move back, grab 2 day-2 players if that is the deal.  I might have a small list of players who might fall, but if they are all gone, get on the phone.

Personally, I'm more than okay taking McDonald at 19 without hesitation if he's the best IDL available.

Pro days aren't an indicator of NFL success, but this guy just destroyed his yesterday at OSU. He is a true odd front NT that can stuff the run and if the old adage of building/winning starts with the trenches, he fits the mold.

I would prefer a trade back to get more picks and still select him, but we need a dance partner.

My board right now at 19 is:

Freeling

Thienemann

ESW

McDonald

Miller

I agree, putting a player that will demand double teams next to DB can only be a good thing

He's a hard player to rank, cause he is a young NT. I do see his abilities to branch out among the DL. That's the only way for him to land in the 1st, some team has to believe he's got the stuff to play DE or T3....

I just don't see using 19 on him, I feel there should be around 7 players just ranked higher than him for the Panthers team.

Now you are a roster nut like me. Im tossing this into fire, I think a good move is to trade UP, yes rare. Just the roster #s tell me 5 rookies and no more than 2 starters will make the team. I feel 5 is magic number.

QB- 2  BY, Pickett

RB- 3   Chubba, Brooks(pls), etienne

TE- 4   Sanders, Temble, Evans, Draft pick/major/franks/UDFA

OL- 10   Walker, Lewis, Fortner, Hunt, Motown, Zavailla, Samac, Stone, Draft pick, Draft pick/Charles/carter

WR-  6   Tmac, XL, Coker, Metch, Horn, Tremay

offense=  25 with 3 draft picks

DL-  6   Brown, Brown, Wharton, Ray, Cam, Hunter/draft pick

Ed-   5  Phillips, Nic, Prince, Jones, ST/incoom/hampton

ILB-   5  Lloyd, Wallace, Bam, Claud, draft pick

CB-    5 Horn, Jackson, Thor, Evans, draft pick/CSN/UDFA

SS-  4  Scott, More, Ramsom, Sim

Defense = 25 with 2 picks

ST = known 3+o+d = 53 roster

SO I see only room for 5-6 with factoring in UDFA pool. That tells me to trade up! Bonus the 1st+3rd gets in front of TB yucs. Then use one of the 5ths+2nd to draft another target. That's your two starters and use the 4th, 5th and 6th for the development OTs and what ever the best player are at the pick/DB. The last couple years they have added 2-3 UDFA each year, maybe the same this year too. Soooooooo Im normally 95% trade back, but above made me change my mind. I do not want to waive 5th rounder, I feel thats high with players on the bench.

??

There's waiver claims too, they have done that each year.

DT/DE, Will LB, S

RT, C

I see TE sneaking into the fray, but we have drafted 3 TEs since 2021.  I think you let them develop (Sanders, Evans flashed at times), but I do not see an upgrade unless we draft TE by day 2.  We need too many other positions.

No, I don't believe the BPA rule is pure or always followed.  IF the draft was before free agency, then maybe.

    • +the #Panthers were more interested in Thieneman than Sadiq +Carolina liked Freeling and Proctor +Idzik stayed up late with Canales to help with prepare for the Ravens offensive coordinator job a few years ago  +Person doesn’t see the scheme changing with Idzik calling plays  +Panthers didn’t see nickel as a priority  +Wheatley probs won’t play nickel  +Bryce Young extension should average 33 million a year https://x.com/josephperson/status/2054547028760248491?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Yeah lol well the interest isn’t really about seeking stimulation.  I wanted to see how actually bad it was.  And how much of it was women setting him up to be their cash cow.  That is the stuff that leveraged the Panthers into David Tepper’s hands. It is important in that sense.     The worst that I have heard is that he got them in the car and clumsily reached across to help them with their seat belt and made contact. With his arm. That was probably his big slick move. And I can almost guarantee he wasn’t rejected every time. It is easy to picture that action bringing his head close enough to the woman’s head to where he could go in for the kiss if he thought he got the green light.    I really don’t care if JR was a horn dog. We heard all our lives up until the last few years that one of the perks of being really old is that you can flirt with the young women and it is not just tolerated but expected. So he was keeping a tradition alive at some point 😂
    • Well I rubbed some dirt on it and am still here just not optimistic about the future of the QB position. Even what I had accepted as a ceiling raised to an acceptable level turned out to be a bit of a mirage, upon rewatch of the WC game.  Good plays were there yes, but some pretty bad ones too that the good ones late in the game kind of obscured. I have to downgrade that a little.  Especially after rewatching the last 4 plays. I remember the arguments about he did his job the WRs didn’t but that was really just that last muff by Coker I think it was on our final offensive play.   To the future: I know what my level is for paying him and recommitting, but I don’t have any confidence that the team shares my high bar.    But thanks for the pep talk
