We had our chance to sign Hardy, lets not make the same mistakes we made with D. Lo and J. Stew, he has to walk :(

I kinda agree. Although I'd love to keep Hardy, if we resign him, we'll have to pay him the salary of a 15-sack/season guy. I know sacks aren't even close to being the only thing that matters, but it's largely what determines a player's market value. Odds are next season he'll be good/great, but it's unlikely he'll somehow be better in terms of sacks+QB pressures. Basically, we'll end up paying for this year's production, even though he probably won't match it. This is what happens when you wait until a player is in a contract year and at his highest value...aren't you glad we didn't resign Muhammad in 05? We would have been paying for a 1400 yard 16 TD guy (as the Bears did), when we knew he probably wouldn't match that production.

This is assuming Hardy doesn't accept some hometown discount or back loaded contract structured to fit our cap...if he does, then resigning him might make sense.
