This. If Byron Bell is the LT going into the season, Gettleman should be fired. Hell if Bell is a starter next year he should be fired.

So let me get this straight, you want to demote Steve Smith, and Promote Byron fuging Bell??

At this rate maybe Cam should take the year off.

What exactly does being left-handed have to do with playing left-tackle?

LMAO

If you're right handed then I don't expect you to understand considering everything in the US is tailor made for people who do things with their right hand. I imagine this could be the equivalent to a natural left handed hitter going to the right side for shits and giggles. You have to change the way you process and do things, your movements, body turns. In essence it is the same thing you would have to do if I told you to go throw a football 45 yards left handed right now.

There actually could be something to the notion that he might fare better on the left side..  Being left handed would suggest that he likely would be stronger and more agile protecting the outside rush using his left side of his body versus what he does now which is use his right side.  Obviously speed and footwork are more important than handedness but if he starts it might not matter on which side he lines up.  Seems that many teams are lining up their best pass rusher on either side of the line mixing it up so you can't offer too much help..  Here is an article discussing it.

Cincinnati’s Andrew Whitworth was a guy who people designated as a right tackle or guard coming out of college. However, he has honed his craft and studies the game like few others, and is now firmly entrenched as one of the best left tackles in football. There is no better guy to ask about the fundamentals and technical details of playing on the line.

“I really believe a lot of guys are more efficient at one side or the other. Sure, most tackles are good players and can play both sides, but usually there is a vast difference in how technical or athletic they are one side to the other, if they keep switching. I really could never see myself as a right tackle, I’m a left-hand dominant guy all the way.”

No I am not comparing Bell to Whitworth, simply saying that Whitworth attributes much of his success to being left hand dominant.  What if Bell should have never played on the right side.

I agree with P55.  Who knows?  There has been a lot of "oh this guy sucks" that have been turned into "um..well he improved in the offseason".   Being left handed and left dominant may play a huge roll, maybe not.  Most of Byron Bells mistakes have been mental anyway.  I mean it wasn't like our Oline was dominant last year anyway.

I am not saying he will but there isn't a one of us that can say he can't.  You play RT and all the movements are backwards from LT.  Maybe he had a hard time adjusting.

I think we draft one, no doubt, I wouldn't be surprised if pick one up in free agency too.  Don't be surprised going into OTAs and the first mini camp Bell is on the left.  Hopefully, he is better as a LT than a RT.

I do know that if Bell is the best we got.  (Scary thought) He is gonna play LT.

    • And once again I showed you it’s been pretty even. We spent 2nd and 3rd rounders this past draft on edge rushers. No one’s going to sit here and do the math on a draft value chart etc. the only reason I even entertained this was because you said we’ve spent nothing on defense when that simply isn’t true. It also didn’t help we traded our ONLY WR worth a damn to trade up for Bryce soo… And this is kind of the issue with the anti Bryce crowd. This crowd tends to blame him for the trade up. I was team Stroud. Had the panthers not taken Young the only other QB they were going to take was Richardson. So your issue should be with Tepper, Morgan, Fitterer not Bryce.  Bryce is who he is and it was pretty obvious who he was during the draft process. Bryce is slowly developing into that guy most thought he’d be. Give him a WR like Jamo and this offense as a whole would improve greatly.  Anyone thinking he was the next Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen is clearly slow. Bryce was always going to need pieces around him much like EVERY other QB Burrow has Chase and Higgins and they’ve done nothing. After losing in AFC Championship in 2022, Burrow is 17-15. QB’s need a team around them It’s why a Jalen Hurts led Eagles team dismantled a Pat Mahomes led KC team in the SB Imo the QB’s doing the most with the least up until this year have been Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson  This year it’s Drake Maye and Josh Allen  Outside of the 3-5 elite type QB’s I’m not really sure what people expect here. Is Bryce ever going to be in that elite category? Nope. Should we punt on Bryce and keep swinging? I don’t think so. Should we keep swinging while hanging onto Bryce? Yeah but I don’t know what that looks like This team as a whole isn’t very good. Offense and defense and that’s the simple truth
    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
