Lafell has produced on par or more so then what he's been paid.  Look that up. We were 3-0 with Lafell, Ginn, and Hixon at the 1, 2, and 3.

I'm not saying that he's going to have a 100 reception season with over 1000 yards and 10 tds, but if we're fortunate enough to land Jones and Benjamin/ Cooks we're going to be in better shape then we were last year.

Benjamin/Cooks

James Jones

Brandon Lafell

Greg Olsen

greater then

Smith

Ginn

Lafell

Olsen.

Nobody to stretch the field if we draft Benjamin.

We were 3-0 with those guys bc of our run first offense and nasty defense, not bc of Lafail.

It just depends on what happens before the draft.  If we signed a guy like Santonio Holmes or Emmanuel Sanders it would probably lend itself to being able to draft Benjamin.  If we don't have a down field threat prior to the draft then we probably go Cooks.  Benjamin would provide a great red zone threat though.

Well most of those guys are post new cba rookie pay scale guys.  Tavon Austin...would have been paid much more prior to the new cba.  Ace Sanders who I love (go Gamecocks) might have better reception numbers but I can only imagine him trying to block.  Keenan Allen...another guys would have made more then Lafell if not for the current cba.

Our weakness at this point is finding guys who can actually get open and catch the ball consistently. So, Im not going to cry about losing a guy who's strongest point is being a good blocker. Lafail isnt Randy Moss.

I just said this in a previous post, the lack of a traditional run game hampered our wrs last year.  When your qb is your leading rusher and your fullback in your best rb you're going to have problems in the passing game.  When all a defense has to do is play 7 in the box and still holds you to a 1 or 2 yard gain on first down it makes it much easier to play coverage.  It's not like Cam can playaction to himself.

That excuse about our WRs being hampered by a traditional run game sure does sound good. Too bad it's not true.

Look at it. LaFail had his best season as a pro last year during this run heavy offense.

It's time now that fans just need to realize that the man cannot get separation and disappear in games. Lafail has reached his ceiling.

I think it says a lot about Lafell to have his best year when we supposedly have a run heavy offense.....that's a bad run heavy offense.

He was a couple of grabs away from being crowned our future.   Those drops were hard to watch.  I think those situations should make him a little better this year.

Not exaclty a couple grabs away. Thought he proved me wrong in the NYG game. Too bad NYG just sucked.

All I'm saying is that Lafell is a decent 3rd option that has the physical ability of  a 2nd option , and occasionally he has a game where he looks like a number 1.

We could do a lot worse at the number 3 wr spot then Brandon Lafell.

I'm not crowning him.  Just think he's a good 3rd WR for us, especially since he would be the only wr that knows the system.  If you want all the wrs to be new and not know the playbook that's fine.  I'm inclined that we need someone at that position who played here last year.

Baltimore, AZ and Miami all picked up LT's in FA. Which teams will pull the trigger on the top 4 OT's in the draft? What will they discard once that is done?

Rams just signed Saffold to a big contract even though he apparently failed is physical in Oakland and they have Jake Long coming back AND Fisher has never taken an OT in the first round in his career.

Tampa also took Collins

Where do the top 4 OT's go? Matthews, Robinson, Lewan and Martin

I think this is an underappreciated point. A lot of very bad teams have recently spent high draft picks on LTs and other teams ahead of us just spent big $ to solidify those positions.

That probably means some of the first round LTs slide. Maybe not all the way down to 28 but it is certainly possible. I'm a bit worried about the saints picking right ahead of us, but it seems possible that Zack Martin could be there at 28.
