  • Interests I certainly bleed my Panther blue, and have followed the team so long, that I'm beginning to feel like history as opposed to remembering history. That being said, I follow the Panthers very closely and am truly a Panthers fanatic in the best sense of the word.

In addition to following the Panthers and the NFL, I also write poems and essays regarding different aspects of race relations in America, and sometimes the world. You can see some of my poetry at blackpoems.net, and perhaps more importantly read my essays on race at racerelations.net. Yes, I know that dealing with racial issues can seem somewhat taboo at times, but my goal is to provide forums where people can at least open up a dialogue and discuss racial issues forthrightly, but respectfully. It is my dream that people will get to a point where, like Dr. martin Luther King expressed, people will be judged by their character and not skin color. Moreover, I have been known to write reviews and opinions on different aspects of the wireless industry, and other issues that affect consumers.

Lastly, I am a family man who works a penny ante job, enjoys sports and very few TV shows, and plays video games. I am in some ways the quintessential "starving artist", who somewhat revels in being a rebel and covets a Bohemian lifestyle.

Well it's certainly better than him playing on a bad hamstring, so the looks naturally have to take a backseat.

Well, if he messes that hammy up, then the fans might not see him until after the BYE week, so I am not complaining.  Surely Corey Brown can cover a preseason game.

Good, no need to risk further stressing that hammy. Plus, we need to get looks at the others.

Owners meeting in the Queen City! "Kinda cool", Scot?  Come on, man. You are more psyched than a fat cop at an all you can eat doughnut buffet.

Hey, here are the roma tomatoes. It tastes great to me, but I like my fresh foods.  The only thing is that you have to really stuff that The Laughing Cow cheese down in there because when you bite the tomato, the cheese starts to move. The only other thing I may try is just cut the tomatoes in half and spread the cheese on top.  Throw some spices on there that you like (for me, chives, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and a tad of red pepper powder), and you got something healthy worth sinking your teeth into.

The thing is about Mayo though is that he would have likely been sitting by the phone after the draft.  We were the only that visited with Mayo. The only one.
Worst case scenario, we miss out on another LB (with Davis, Luke, Klein, Glanton, Trusnik and Thompson).
Edit: Dave loves his LBs. I'm surprised he let Blackburn go.

Dex, I believe I am going to do this tonight:
As I've stated before, I love these Johnsonville turkey sausages.
What you have here are grilled turkey sausages complete with buns, fresh collard leaves and tomatoes sprinkled with black pepper, garlic and onion powder. I have topped it off with some Walmart brand sweet onion mustard and Dukes Mayo with olive oil (less fat).
The onions are also grilled (but can be made in the oven). Just take a regular size yellow onion and cut out the core leaving a small bowl shape. Stick the bouillon cube (chicken or beef) inside the onion and place a pat of butter on top. Wrap in foil and cook until tender (maybe 30-40 mins. depending on how hot the grill is and what you prefer).  Again, don't get a great big onion as it will dilute the flavor. A regular sized yellow onion will suffice.
What I may do, which is not pictured here, is take some roma tomatoes and cut them kind of like a baked potato, or maybe with a slit, stuff them with some The Laughing Cow cheese wedges (I like the Queso Fresco flavor) and sprinkle just a tad of spices on it for flavor and add that to my menu.
Depending upon how many sausages you eat, everything here can be kept to around 1000 calories. The sausages are 110 calories, as are the buns. The vegetables are basically nothing. The cheese wedges are only 35 calories, so everything is really relatively low fat and cholesterol.  Now the sodium intake is kind of high for the sausage and the bouillon cube, but if you limit yourself to two sausages, two onions and two tomatoes, you can still keep it under the RDA. Those sausages are kind of salty, but delicious.

Gettleman probably knew all along that he would target Wegher, but he drafted Artis-Payne anyway.  He may not have know how good Wegher would be, but that's why bringing in possible depth never hurts.
Neither Wegher or Mayo were highly recruited. In fact, I believe that we were the only ones in both cases.
Plus, that BPA thing that Gman supposedly sticks to like glue...

Getting off on a tangent, you have "Fear the Hair" in your image, so it just occurred to me that Panfro would be a nice alternate.

From one perspective. That's like the worst case scenario. But, I understand your frustration.

What is this thing about the Panthers and Patsies not liking each other? I never got that feeling, though I would love it if Gettleman publicly showed some disdain for Belichick.

    David Newton: Wegher still longshot
There is some compelling reasoning behind David Newton's belief that Brandon Wegher won't make the roster,  but the main one is this:
"Despite his productivity, he hasn’t moved up the depth chart judging by the pecking order in practice. He’s still not a consistent blocker, essential in this offense."
    http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/176287/panthers-preseason-star-brandon-wegher-still-a-long-shot
Out of all the reasons why I can see Wegher making the team,  the inability to block effectively will get a lot of RBs cut.  On the other hand,  knowing how to block has secured roster spots, as Newton is intimating about Fozzy Whitaker.
At the end of the day,  Newton is making an educated guess.  I do believe that Newton may be miscalculating the ability of Ron Rivera's and Dave Gettleman's understanding that it takes time to develop into an effective blocker, and their willingness to give Wegher that time at someone else's expense. I mean,  it's all about value,  right? But,  then again,  that's what the practice squad is for.  If it is as Newton believes,  perhaps Wegher's probability of getting through waivers is a lot greater than we may think, because blocking is at a premium in this league. It's also a much valued skill on a Dave Gettleman team.
We'll see what Gettleman really thinks of Wegher and his prospects as the right fit for the Panthers fairly soon. In the meantime,  fans might want to pump the brakes a little bit.
