  1. So what about Antonio Gates

How about my eyes? I know that he's not the worst blocker in the league, but he is pretty poor at it, and that's OK. Typically I want my TE's catching passes, just like Olsen is doing for us, and not being inline blockers.  However, we already have Olsen, if we are getting another TE, we damn sure don't need Gates....another TE who I have seen a ton of games from. He can't run any longer, he's a surefire HOFer, but he's not that anymore.
  2. we just voided Harper and Cotch contracts

Don't think so.  The Chargers are nearing an all out rebuild/retool, and may as well get young. Expect to see some of their better players being shown the door if they are on the wrong side of 30.   Can't get rid of Rivers, but Weddle, Gates, Floyd, etc...will be moving on soon.
  3. we just voided Harper and Cotch contracts

Huh, a punter that can also kick field goals and PATs? Pretty good set of skill to tote around if you can be really good at one or the other.
  4. So what about Antonio Gates

Olsen is typically one of the worst blockers in the NFL as a starter.
  5. we just voided Harper and Cotch contracts

    Where have you read this?
  6. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

Hardy agreed to go on the exempt list. Hardy was not a "good egg" he laid his hands on a woman...I won't forgive him for that. Nothing since then?  Fighting on the sideline with a coach and player during a game?
  7. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

May need to read this.   Doubt that we will go after many "big" names in FA, when we are trying to sign KK, and tag Norman.
  8. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

What book is that? What am I wrong about.  He hit the woman, he was convicted by a judge, at that point he was deactivated, and two days later AGREED to go on the commissioners exempt list. Exactly how was that Big Cat's call? As for your last statement about winning vs. morals, I will take morals all day long.  Wouldn't have signed players like Adam Jones, Greg Hardy, Ray Rice, etc...especially when we have already had a murderer on the roster.
  9. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

He was convicted, it just wasn't a jury trial, read up on law in NC. It doesn't matter if your girlfriend is high on heroin, smoking a joint, and pissing on your bed, you cannot hit them no matter what.  That's just the way it is.  IF you want to continue to take up for someone that beat a woman, that is on you.  What I can tell you is that JR and DG aren't going to do that.
  10. I think that fans tend to think that players with heart win you football games. Heart only gets you so far, if you can't stay healthy, or do your job at a high level, you can't be paid at a high level in the NFL. CJ could bounce back next year, CJ could take a pay cut, but you need to look at history.
  11. JNo - To Tag or Not to Tag?

He will be tagged or receive a 4 for 40 deal with 25-30 guaranteed. That is about the only way I see this shaking down.
  12. Players rarely take pay cuts, and that's what he needs to be offered. If he wants to continue to play, and in Carolina, he needs a true pay cut, not an extension. That said, if he will take an extension, and a real pay cut, I have no problem keeping him for another year or two.
  13. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

He was convicted, he did beat a woman, and her mental state has nothing to do with this discussion. You beat a woman, you lose my respect, no questions asked.  He made a choice, he got dealt with, another owner gave him a second chance, and he still blew it. You can't count on people like that, you just can't.
  14. Well, being that we're already hated .. Sign Hardy

What happened when he got paid?  Players back other players until they absolutely can't any longer, it's a fraternity that way....coaches, they do it as well most times, GM's and Owner's....nah....and they are the ones cutting the checks. We got rid of Hardy because he was a distraction, and beat a woman.  His choice. As to the question of him messing up any more?  Don't you think that he carried that mindset into Dallas?  Don't you think that he knew that he had to be top guy on and off the field?  He couldn't do it. As to the Hardy coming back, what exactly do you want to wager?  I'm in.
  15. You get a top end corner for 1.4 this season and 14M next with no long term money on the books. Average that out and you have about 7.5M spread over this season and next for an elite outside guy.  Let him walk after next year when his age is getting up there. Or....sign him to a Revis type deal.  Those are your options.
