How hard is it for our offense to prepare for defenses?

Recommended Posts

Offense watch tape on defense, come out with a gameplan

In the locker room, is it really hard to come up with another gameplan?

Why not come out in the 2nd half with a no-huddle offense and just let Cam adjust the plays to what he sees

In answer to your topic question, in our case apparently, it's an insurmountable task. Maybe we'll have better luck against the bottom of the barrel tomorrow. I fear it might be assumed, that it shouldn't require any real specific planning at all. Obviously, to some of us anyway, that would be a huge mistake.

We'll find out tomorrow if they are aware at all.

If we mainly run, then it shows we don't tailor what we do to exploit the weakness of the opposition.

If we go pass heavy it shows we do pay attention and prepare accordingly.

Cam needs to take more ownership of the offense , need to start changing calls knowing a blitz is coming

I don't get it. He did this a TON in 2015. Not to mention hard counts. I remember he made the Redskins jump like 4 times in one drive in that game. WTF happened to that Cam? It's like a light clicked for him, and then turned right back off after that superbowl.

We don't gameplan for defenses. Ron has said this many times. We aren't looking to exploit any weaknesses, we just go out and run our offense. Denver said the same thing after the Super Bowl. We don't change, because we aren't looking to do anything but control the clock. If we happen to score points in the process then great, but a 9-3 victory is a good day for Ron.

Shula is obviously a hindrance, but why doesn't Cam change out of plays anymore? Obviously it doesn't help that Shula gets the playcall in at the last second, but didn't stop Cam in 2015.

The last couple of years Cam has had that "I just do what the coaches say to do" attitude. He's said it one too many times for my liking during press conferences as well. He's never going to take ownership of the calls at the line with that attitude, so we're stuck with Shula calls.

As far as changing game plans at the half, our head coach is of the mind that if we execute whatever he says better than they execute, there's no need to change. Hence the oline drumming during the SB. No adjustments in the biggest game of their lives, so don't expect anything new this year or any under Ronula

And pretty much this. We aren't going into games with a specific gameplan to attack a defense, we run our offense regardless of what happens during the game. Should have been obvious in the superbowl, but if you want a more recent example, just look at last week. Instead of exploiting their weak secondary, we run CMC right into the strength of the Bills defense all day.

If we don't gameplan at all we're never going to win a SB. It's a waste of time having Ron and his staff here for the fans and players if they don't.

It's not that we don't gameplan, it's that we don't adjust when that gameplan fails. We have had some pretty damn good gameplans the past few years, it's just that when the 2nd half hits and the other team has time to adjust, we waltz back out after half not changing anything, which is why our offense seems to ALWAYS stall in the 2nd half.
